Jonafun

Well, you aint too young or pretty and you sure as hell can't sing.

About Me

My real name is Jonathan McCormack and I've been married to Lou who is a saint for putting up with me for 7 years. I work as a nerd for Belfast City Council. I used to be the kinda guy who went "Hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on again?" but now I dish out the work more than doing it myself. I also get to play with any new gadgets we might get.

In case you were wondering, the nickname Jonafun was given to me a very long time ago by a nice young lady called Moira, but I'm a grumpy sod now so maybe I should change it. If you want to know what a Stripey Miata is, click below:

By the way, I'm driving like that on purpose, I'm not really about to crash, honest ;)

Oh look, pretty pictures :)

My Interests

I'm into cars, too much to be honest. Up to this summer we had 5 of them which was a bit silly to be honest. At the moment we have 4. Which I suppose is also a bit daft since there is two of us. I have an Eunos Roadster (aka the Stripey Miata) & a Ford Racing Puma, Lou has a FIAT 126 and a Ford Focus ST (aka a Ford ASBO). I used to do Motorsport in the form of Hillclimbing/Sprints for 5 years until I crashed this year, I’ve taken the rest of the year out and hope to be back next year. If you click on the Videos link you can see some footage of the cars in action.

I'm also a Racing Instructor for the elite Just Go Faster school.

I married a Disney fanatic (although she didn't mention it at the time) so most of our holidays are spent in America, but I really fancy Japan next and since it has a Disney Park I might have a chance. We’ve not just gone to Florida, we’ve been to New York, the West Coast and driven through the Deep South via Dollywood which was very surreal. Never really bothered with Europe much although we did drive to Germany and back, via Disneyland Paris of course.

We tend to take toys with us on holiday, Donkey from Shrek around London and Oscar The Grouch around California can be found here .

As for nerding, If you are on XBOX live and want to kick my arse online, which is easier that you think, Click Here

I'd like to meet:

Darl McBride so I can kick him in the nuts.

Music:

There was a time music was one of the most important things in my life, now while I still can’t drive anywhere without some music on, I don’t listen to it as much outside the car these days. Although, according to my Last FM profile I’ve listened to over 1500 songs at work since March so there you go.

I have quite a varied taste in music because I think I’m easily influenced by who I’m friends with or in a relationship with. So over the years I’ve been into New Romantic, Acid House, Indie, Techno, Handbag House, boy bands and lately after a trip to Las Vegas Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka and Dean Martin.

Artists/Bands with a special place in my heart at the moment are, in no particular order: Spanorak, Bitchfinder Genital , Hundredweight , Dagdad , Duran Duran, Teenage Fanclub, Pulp, Jason Downs, Kylie, A House, Carter USM, PWEI, Wonder Stuff, Steps, Therapy?, Tatjana, Dean Martin (better than Frank IMO), Kelly Clarkson, Nirvana, Jam & Spoon, Gina G, Snow Patrol, Suede, George Michael, Radiohead, Elton John, The Frank & Walters, The Divine Comedy, Pet Shop Boys, Sugar, Erasure, Elvis, The Lemonheads, Guns ‘N‘ Roses, Take That, Tenacious D, Boyzone, Fun Lovin Criminals, Pixies, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, The KLF, Space, David Bowie, The Smiths, DJ Danger Mouse, Johnny Cash, Fern Kinney, Black, Gloria Gaynor, Stock Aiken & Waterman, Scissor Sisters, Feeder, Stone Roses and the godlike genius and most beautiful woman in the world, Betty Boo. I’m sure I can think of more later.

Hopefully you should see a nice graphic below of what I’ve been listing to this week, if you click on it you should see a lot more information on what my favourites are.

Movies:

This is difficult, but off the top of my head, Star Wars (IV, V & VI) obviously (Greedo did not shoot first by the way), Anchorman, View Askew movies, Shawshank Redemption, Grand Prix, Matrix (1, the rest sucked), anything by Pixar, Shrek 1 & 2, Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, Jaws, Schindler's List, The Rapture, Top Gun, The Tigger Movie, Army Of Darkness, Shaun Of The Dead, Bubba Ho-Tep....bugger I’ll come back to this later.

Television:

I hardly watch any TV anymore, I like Spongebob Squarepants, Heroes, Extras, Lost, Battlestar Galactica and My Name Is Earl at the moment. In the past, Father Ted, Black Books, The Mary Whitehouse Experience, Band Of Brothers and especially Spaced all were/are favourites.

Books:

It’s a bit embarrassing I guess, but unless I’m travelling on a plane I never read books. Next batch to read are Fighter Boys, The Road To McCarthy and a JFK Biography.

Heroes:

We can all be heroes, just for one day

Tea at Moby's and then a naked cowboy

Got a huge hangover?  Then walk the Brooklyn Bridge, soon got rid of mine.  It's a fantastic experience; you get a unique view of Manhattan and get time to savour it instead of the usual rus...
