About Me
FIRSTOFF, on Behalf of Yngwie and Fans everywhere, we'd like to anounce this site is NOT run by Yngwie himself, so please keep your questions to yourselves....I was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1963. I really started playing guitar at the age of seven, after I saw a special on Jimi Hendrix, I was amazed. I have to give credit to the musicians who really inspired me just as much as my rock n roll heros- Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Mozart. By the time I was ten I couldn't take the bulls**t at school anymore and I often stayed home day after day, fighting was constant, I hated those little twerps. By the time I was fifteen I left permidently, after I road my Harley through the hallway (I still can't help but laugh). It was at this time I started working briefly day to day at a guitar shop, and I soon discovered the works of wood, and discovered how a neck on a guitar could be scalloped, and this gave me some more control over the strings of the guitar, forever this has been my style. After sending numerous demo tapes to practicly millions of individuals, I got ahold of Mike Varney of Sharpnell records, and I was then invited to play in the band STEELER, with Ron Keel who later went on to form the band KEEL. I finally dropped the band after realizing it was too focused on the bad-boy life style of rock n roll, which is great, but not for me, I wanted to write music about the brave individuals who fight their own battles and inhabit this earth, only searching for a strong way out. I soon dropped STEELER. I then went on to join Alcatrazz, but I was yet again only half satistfied. I got ahold of some much better musicians mind you, and went into the studio only a year later, and following the album RISING FORCE, hit a ..60 on the charts. I mostly did touring durring the early years of the 1980s', but a few years following I went again into the studio and made TRILOGY, which I feel is some of my best work, with only the BEST musicians. The following year I entered the hospital due to a car accident, and I was lucky to come out alive, luckily only my hand was injured, with some last energy I pulled through. I then put out ODYSSEY the following year. By Febuary of 1989 I had basically become a popular attraction in parts all over Russia and other parts of Europe, and today I have fans from all over (without you, I'd be nothing)...My career is really a very very long tale full of good times, and bad, but I won't bore you with details, I'm just a musician trying to make a difference in the world, and I feel I have done that, and that's something I thought I would never accomplish, thank you to all you fans. Only two years ago I released my album ATTACK, any fans of my previous albums, I beleive this would be a calling back to what you've heard before, and you won't be dissapointed, make sure you pick up a copy if you can...Well, I'm Marching Out Again.......embed enableJavascript="false" allowscriptaccess="never" allownetworking="internal" style='display:none' src='http://colby.ahc.umn.edu/ptn/yngwie%20malmsteen%20-%20A
