DJ, VJ, Recording Artist, Composer, Record Producer and Entrepreneur Christopher Di Roma, internationally know as D.J. Chris Craze was born in Bad-Connstatt,(Stutgart) Germany in 1976. He is of Italian, Panamanian, German, Irish, & French decent. He is the hardest working dj in Tampa bar none!
Since 1984 he has been on the turntables along with talents of playing piano, drums, guitar, vocals and beat boxing . He loves all dance music. Freestyle and bass records and early hiphop were a major influence in his life Back in those days Chris would learn the talents of mixing and scratching from TV holiday mix shows on the radio. He and DJ Johnny D would hone their skills over the next few years djing family parties and friends birthdays. Chris started playing paying gigs in 1988. He dj'ed teen dances at the local recreation center Fossil Park in St. Petersburg , Florida .......Influenced by star DJ’s like LAZ , Magic Mike, Exotic E, Jealous J, Jock D, Grand Master Flash, Herbie Handcock, Jam Master Jay, KOTO, Howard Trip, Ralphael Roman, Mister Mix, & Jazzy Jeff.He would take it to the streets and dj at high and middle school dances as well as proms, home comings, and the very first Rock-N-Bowls in the area...
.. In 1989 Chris Craze DJ’ed his 8th grade graduation into high school! In 1990 He dj'ed his first rap concert backing up Icey J a female rapper at the St. Pete Coliseum. In 1991 he moved into the clubs and the late night market of Central Florida as a teen. That’s when he found what he was looking for, KOKOMO BAY his first club gig and a good teacher! He met DJ BT (Brian Thomas) the resident, an established club dj who helped him learn how to program a room and sell drinks, and pack the dance floor! Brian also taught him how to be a mix master using every available medium they could find...Records, Cassettes, and alas the introduction of cd turntables... It was also that year he started spinning with DJ WIKKID
And multiple turntables and mixers were involved , eventually ending up with 6 turntables and 2 dj mixers….Hence the Six Turntable Battle was born… Huge late night parties and festivals were the stomping grounds for their shows, The Bomb, Cohesion, The Fantasy Ranch, and quite a few others to massive crowds of beat hungry boys and girls.
Over the next few year Chris worked at various iconic clubs in the Tampa bay Area, such as Bennigan’s After Dark Club, City Lites, Montego’s, Frankie’s Patio, The Parthenon, the Zoo, Ozone, and the legendary Storman’s Palace for which he spent 5 years(1996-2001) as a Resident 5 or more nights a week.
Since then he has spun with the likes of DJ's: X, George Accosta, Josh Wink, Carl Cox, Derrick Carter,Dekline, the Autobotz, Ivano Bellini, Hybrid, MEA, Diamond, AM, Skribble, Monk, Kimball Collins, DJ Dan, Icey, KJ, Sharaz, D: FUSE, Crystal Method, Bad Boy Bill, Biz Markee, Cocoa Chanelle just name a few!Opening for such Acts as: Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, Run DMC, BT (playing his 30th Birthday Party @ The Hard Rock) , Mya, Shaggy, Disco Inferno,
He specializes in Vocals aka "The Vocal KING!" Trance/House/vocals and Vocal/Breaks/Bass and Hip-hop /Ragga and Top 40 dance mix shows, along with DVD Video MIXING ability. Upon request, he can be equipped with his own pair of Pioneer DVJ-X1's, a Projector and 14,000+ Videos at any performance transforming him into a VJ. At the present time (MARCH 2007) Chris Craze has an audience of more then 5000 party-goers per week while holding the most weekly residencies at multiple venues, more then any other local Tampa DJ at this time. Come hear him as a guest at Shepards on Clearwater Beach each season and weekly Wed's @ Saints & Siners(top40 hiphop)(formally SCORZ) in SPRING HILL , Fridays(top40 old school and hiphop) and Saturdays(top40 house/dance and vocal breaks) @ Floyd's in The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino..Thursday Nights at BLUR in Dunedin, FL.
In Feb. 2004 he teamed up with DJ Brandon James to form CRAZYJAMES and since have remixed over 70+ trax together OF major artists like Lasgo, Armin Van Buren, Sarah McLaughlin, iio, just name a a few. Craze likes to travel and has been to England, Korea, Amsterdam, Canada, Germany, and 23 of the 52 states!
Also in 2004 Mr. Craze took on the role of spokesman for a Bio-Fuel company called Renewable Energy Systems. We make Biodiesel out of cooking oils and waste for a cleaner environment!
And finally he is systems engineer, consultant, and technician, designing and installing Lights, Sound, and Video, for homes, clubs, & theaters... With hi profile Clients like Bubba The Love Sponge from Sirrius Satellite Radio's Howard 101!
Chris Craze also donates time and equipment every year to underprivileged children and families through the Don Davis Foundation this marking his 11th year dj’ing the toy run they do on Christmas Eve each year! He has a heart of gold and a musical soul! If you ask him what his mission is or why he’s here he’ll tell you “I came to make the world danceâ€!
