Texas Music Nation

A Family of Texas Musicians, Friends and Fans

About Me

The idea for Texas Music Nation (T.M.N.) was born around a campfire in 1999. Bodie Powell had just finished singing "Texas Music Nation", a new song that he and Donna Powell had recently written, which tells a story about camping at music festivals. Reed Smith (a.k.a. "The Prez") said; "There's really something to this Texas Music Nation. There are so many things we could do." Not long after that night, Reed designed the T.M.N. flag, and wrote the T.M.N. pledge. We decided to hold a Celebration of Texas Music combining the musicians and the wonderful people that support them. Since this is a fan-based event , we thought it was best to incorporate a non-profit organization-- "The Musician's Emergency Relief Fund (M.E.R.F.)" We want everyone supporting Texas Music Nation to know that no one makes a profit from the show. All money raised goes to help artists in need of emergency funds. We are a family, working together to promote Texas Music. We are proud to be part of Texas Music Nation along with all of you. ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ ** There's a stage being built, guitars being tuned, The tents, trailers and motor homes will be arriving soon. The snap of the Texas Flag flying in the sky, Chili that's so hot it brings a tear to a glass eye. ************************************************************ We're the Texas Music Nation, on a weekend reservation. A native tribe that's gathered for a Lone Star Celebration. A united congregation, with total dedication, no logic or explanation for the Texas Music Nation. ************************************************************ * The circle won't be broken when the last act is done. The smoke signals that the campfires have begun. A merry band of nomads have gathered here, Good friends, good music and a whole lot of beer. ************************************************************ We're the Texas Music Nation, on a weekend reservation. It's a Lone Star Celebration; we're the Texas Music Nation. ************************************************************ * There's a grass roots sound, a feeling of the past, Like "Woodstock" and the "Opry" together at last. The soul of country music lives on in you and me, And we're not alone; this is one big family. ************************************************************ * We're the Texas Music Nation, on a weekend reservation. A native tribe that's gathered for a Lone Star Celebration. A united congregation, with total dedication, No logic or explanation, we're the Texas Music Nation. ************************************************************ *** Written by B&D Powell, Tex-Western Pub. Band Members: Texas musicians, singers, and songwriters.... and the friends, family and fans that support them. Texas Music Nation is registered as a non-profit organization. We have organized the Musician's Emergency Relief Fund (M.E.R.F.). The purpose of the fund is to provide emergency relief to musicians in Texas. It can be used for medical emergencies or in case of theft of equipment. A review committee votes on the disbursement of all funds. Profit made from the festival(s) and CASI chili cookoffs, less show expenses, will be reserved for the M.E.R.F. fund. ************************************************************ Our festivals are a great place to advertise and show your support to our musicians by sponsoring our events. We have various advertising levels available from small (and much appreciated) donations to larger sponsorships. A program for all events will be available for advertising space as well as banner advertising on stage, t-shirts, and your company mentioned in radio spots. All sponsorships over $200 will have their name listed on the official Texas Music Nation Celebration T-shirt, along with the artists.
