ELECTRIC BLUE AND THE KOZMIK TRUTH
ELECTRIC BLUE AND THE KOZMIK TRUTH (EBKT) was the product of Gary Phelps and Callie K.'s hard work one long winter. In a cold ass barn in 1995 they were trying to keep another project together where Callie K was mostly a back up singer. As the songs began to take shape it became vividly clear as to her value as a lead singer and EBKT itself began to take shape. Parting ways with the former members it was time too seek out players with the same mentality and direction. This led Gary to Hampshire College where he found a rhythm section in a pair of students named Aaron Germain on bass and drummer Orion Palmer.
While this lineup really gelled together Gary and Callie were big fans of duel guitar sounds and when Bryan Gould walked up and wanted to try out for EBKT they decided to give him a chance and once again he came with a drummer Jason Mathews who would play percussion for the band.
With the lineup set EBKT began to rehearse those songs that Gary and Callie had spent all winter writing. Adding each member..s influence and style. They went into Slaughter House Records and recorded their first full-length album ..La Raza Cosmica.. EBKT built a large and loyal fan base within New England and New York. They shared the stage with the likes of The Dickey Betts Band, Max Creek, South Catherine St. Jug Band, JGB, Ekoostik Hookah, Gordon Stone (who later recorded with them on ..Searching For Salvation..), Derek Trucks Band, North Mississippi Allstars and many more. They were also voted number 4 on the POT 100 in High Times Magazine Sept. 2001.
EBKT had a great run at it and enjoyed the fans from Limestone, ME (yeah they were that band w/ the nice light show and ten kegs. well at least until we got popped by the Lemonwheel Police, almost did time for that one) all the way down to Austin, TX via New Orleans, LA
EBKT performed over five hundred shows between 1995 and 2004. Unfortunately the road got the best of some players and they went their separate ways. Although there were other incarnations of EBKT in 2004 Gary and Callie called it quits and are now working together in a project called CIDERHOUSE.
