Project Fatalist
Project Fatalist is two teenagers out of Massachusetts who are dedicated to recording music with a message. Masetti, the producer and one half of PF, along with Descendant write, rap, sing, produce beats, and perform music from the heart. Currently, the two are performing gigs locally while working on their next CD entitled “Live. Love, Life.†They recently released their new single “Northern Lights.â€
Some assume PF record in a studio, when in actuality, they record in Masetti's bedroom. "Its 100% original and our lyrics have meaning." When Masetti and Descendant were 13 years old, they started their own underground rap group. In late 2006, Masetti finished his home recording studio, and has been releasing Project Fatalist songs, hoping to one day, make a living touring the world with their music.
“We are 100 percent dedicated to Fatalist. It is much more then a band to both of us. It is therapy, a release, it is life. We will never stop making music because we have too many things to inspire us to write, too many struggles we all face on a day to day basis. Fatalist to us is freedom. It is living life the way you want with no restraints and with your own perspective.â€

CD Review
Misty Blues: Roadhouse Revival
By Shanta Paloma C-G
Roadhouse Revival (2008) reminds the blues aficionado that the dive bar blues never really went out of style. The only difference between listening to this album and going to a dusky downtrodden dump to listen to decent renditions of old time blues spirituals is that your party would be a B.Y.O.B and you could always access the pool table. But then again, perhaps you are the type who likes your blues live and loud.
Gina Coleman’s full-bodied vocals are supported by lively and expressive harmonies by the band, a strong beat and definite grooves. While the instruments were in tune for the recording, unlike the instruments the songs were probably written on, the rustic spirit of the music could be felt in the album’s production.
All in all, Misty Blues is both expected and like a fun night out. However, this night out sounds more intimate than their first album, Electric Juke Joint (2003).
BerkshireGrown Music Showcase
We held our first benefit event, the BerkshireGrown Music Showcase, on April 5 at Flavours in Lenox MA. We would like to thank everyone involved who made this event happen! We thank all of the performers Mary Verdi with band member Ben Kohn and special guest percussionist Tom of The Berkshire Bateria, Static, Sifer, Millions Dead and Warsynium; our emcees Owen Seery and DJ Scooby of Hot 91.9 FM Springfield; R.A.M.M. Productions of Pittsfield for working hard all day and night with the sound; and Flavours for allowing us to use their venue for the event.
We would also like to thank our sponsors who donated raffle prizes: The Colonial Theatre (Pittsfield), Shaun’s Barber Shop (Pittsfield), Paper Boy Limelight (Pittsfield), MassMOca (North Adams), Michele’s Day & Spa (Great Barrington), KB Toys (Pittsfield), Kickery Kreative (Pittsfield), Cranwell Resort & Spa (Lenox) and once again Flavours (Lenox) who donated proceeds from the buffet, contributed to event costs, and gave away several meal gift certificates! In addition to 411 and band promotions, special thanks for additional promotions goes out to Jon Kane (Millions Dead) and 89.7 WTBR in Pittsfield, who promoted the event on his radio show every Monday and thanks also goes out to Project413.net for allowing event coordinators, promoters and bands to promote their shows on their site.
The event was very successful and was a benefit for the Here at Home Committee for Berkshire County Iraqi War Veterans. The turnout was more than anticipated! The venue reached capacity on two occasions and had to close the doors. We have TONS of pictures thanks to our staff, Dawn Simmons (Pariah) and John Kickery on our photos page.
Check out our video montages. Some Individual band videos coming.

Roots/Reggae/Hip Hop/Dub
Amherst, MA
When musicians skilled in diverse styles unite, the outcome is powerful. Combining the hypnotic rhythms of roots reggae, the bounce of bass-heavy hip-hop, the harmonic intricacies of classical, and the freedom of jazz, the Alchemystics are no exception.
The Alchemystics have performed with Busta Rhymes, The Abyssinians, The Skatalites, Jurrasic 5, Spearhead, Dub is a Weapon, Badfish, The Coup, and more.
Formed in the fall of '03, with the belief that hip-hop could expand beyond the boundaries of radio formulas, the group created a sound that reflected their love of heavy rhythms and truly original music. The Alchemystics lineup currently consists of the dual lyrical stylings of emcees Force and Phaze, and the rock solid rhythms of drummer Demse Zullo, bassist Garrett Sawyer, and keyboardist Jason Metcalf.
The band's collective experience reads like an encyclopedia of music. Members have studied percussion with masters in Cuba, played flamenco in San Francisco, won awards in orchestras, toured the Caribbean playing soca, and graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music. The band's musical experience is evident in their live performance.
The Alchemystics' popularity has grown steadily, proving that their unique sound and explosive energy is addictive and enveloping. The power of their live performances has carried them across the Northeast to a wide variety of venues ranging from college auditoriums, to reggae and hip-hop festivals, to nightclubs large and small.
With the spring 2006 release of their full length CD The Alchemystics continue to grow and gain momentum. The group members are affiliated with Northfire Recording studio and their upcoming cd will be the first offering from the new label Northfire Records. The cd features guest performances by up and coming sensations like DJ Theory, Ray Hendricks (The Ray Hendricks Revival) and Prowla (Fear Nuttin Band), as well as well-established musicians such as Ras John (Loose Caboose) and Kirsty Rock (Trumystic).
Venues they have played include Bishop’s Lounge, Pearl Street, Mount Holyoke College, Umass Amherst, Salem State, The Middle East, Charlemont Reggae Festival, Strange Creek Festival, Iron Horse, The Calvin Theater, Tammany Hall, Lucky Dog Music Hall, La Cocina, Felt Club, Maximum Capacity, and the list goes on! In addition, they have had two featured articles in the Valley Advocate and one in the Daily Hampshire Gazette.

SunDown formed in Framingham, MA in 2004 as little more than an experimental jam band. With more creativity and ambition than experience, these budding musicians quickly utilized their wide range of musical influences to create a highly addictive sound, incorporating everything from blues to roots reggae to funk to rock into a spectacular amalgamation of groove and style with an incomparable rock-reggae jam band foundation. Focused primarily on the musical character of each song, SunDown feeds on the energy of the crowd and each other to deliver a captivating aural experience not easily forgotten.
SunDown currently practices in "The Space", an old 19th-century munitions factory in Framingham, MA which has been home to many great bands such as Godsmack, Nullset, My Little Radio, Drinkfist, Waltham, Illville, The Worst, Kultur, White, Trauma Concept, Ape and many more.
SunDown plays primarily in Boston, MA, having already played well-known clubs such as The Paradise Lounge, Bill's Bar, Copperfields, Harper's Ferry, All Asia, The Kellz, The Wonderbar and PA's Lounge, and also in Framingham, MA, currently playing monthly shows at Bruburgers. SunDown headlined the Justafest Music Festival 2006 in Danville, VT, was featured on the main stage at the Mill City Festival 2005 in Manchester, NH and the Jamie Tomasz Memorial Bash 2005 in Ashland, MA.
SunDown is proud to announce the release of their first EP. They encourage you to download their songs as much as you like and show them to whoever you please. SunDown believes in the freedom of music, that music which costs nothing to distribute should cost nothing to hear. In return, if you like what you hear, we strongly encourage you to support the band. Buy the CD and get better audio and all the artwork. Buy some merchandise and show your support. Mt.Sinai
“Wise Hip-Hopâ€
Springfield, MA / Hartford, CT
www.myspace.com/mtsinai
www.sound click.com/sinaimusic
From the selfless perspective of higher consciousness to the selfish reality of the streets & society, Mt. Sinai's music covers the extremes of the spectrum, aiming for the center.
Rhyming since 1997, Sinai found he had a way with words and a gift for expressing the struggles of the human condition. His personal realization of the spiritual journey intertwines with his music, producing a sound that resonates with his audience at levels that transcend the normal experience of “listening to music.â€
Mt.Sinai has worked in the improvisational tradition of the jazz greats to elevate the art of freestyle to its peak. Utilizing himself as a vessel, he allows the music to "flow through him," recognizing that the music he creates is actually the work of powers greater than himself.
Sinai is as prolific with a pen as he is without one. Crafting songs with an ear toward enunciation, clarity and purpose, he brings his words to life......
"the breath of God in my lungs..."
As a performing artist, Sinai has rocked crowds at countless events, shows, and venues. He has shared stages and spotlights with Killah Priest, Talib Kweli, C-Rayz Walz, Fear Nuttin Band, GFE, Blueprint, Illogic, and Sage Francis, among many others.
Mt.Sinai has performed at venues such as Pearl St (Northampton MA), Webster Theater (Hartford CT), Western Front and All Asia (Cambridge/Boston MA), as well as many other bars, clubs, and establishments throughout New England.
Mt. Sinai understands that to affect even one person can have radical results-
and with that in mind he performs with the same intensity whether performing in front of five, five hundred, or five thousand people.
And he has yet to reach his peak!
