Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968), was one of the main leaders of the American civil rights movement. King was a Baptist minister, one of the few leadership roles available to black men at the time. He became a civil rights activist early in his career. He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955–1956) and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (1957), serving as its first president. His efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech. Here he raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement and established himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history. In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other non-violent means.King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Jimmy Carter in 1977. Martin Luther King Day was established as a national holiday in the United States in 1986. In 2004, King was posthumously awarded a Congressional Gold Medal.Yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day.He would have been 79 if hate and racism had not taken him away.
That man had a dream.
That man had a dream that one day we could all live as one.
Many men, many incredible humans throughout history have had this dream.
Jesus, Buddah, Lao Tzu, Chang Tzu, U2, Lennon, entire nations of youth, armies, literally Billions of people have shared this dream.
Now today, I share it and I share it with you.

I am running a serious write-in campaign from here on out. I am sick of politics in Washington, I am sick of politics in general, I will run on an a-political platform which I will be developing on u4prez
This is mainly for you Indiana. By the time May 5th rolls around, our choices will not mean much, but if you really want to express yourself, you could go down there and write in the name of a guy who loves this country and all the people in it and wants it to be all that it can be and would give up his normal life for a small period of time to dedicate to the furtherance of that cause.
when i started this, i really did not want anyone's vote for anything. i still do not want your vote as some sort of contestant in some sort of popularity contest. i want your vote because i will honestly conduct myself as i say i will and i will honestly hold others to conduct themselves in a manner befitting human beings who are being elected to represent human beings.

otherwise we’re just mindless pawns
until enlightenment finally dawns
at least admit we have enough
of all this extra wasteful stuff
manufactured because we buy
materialists until we die
stop buying so much worthless crap
turning resources to scrap
it’s a useless enterprise
buying corporate lies
death in disguise
it is very unwise to not exercise every right
every night
sometimes fighting is just standing up
sharing your overflowing cup
giving as much as you can
really being a human
a human being
I believe in humanity
I do not come with vanity
I understand that I am also You
that our existence here is true
this too shall pass
but would we want it uttered alas
if they had only understood
that all that wealth was no good
they could’ve enjoyed their time
what a cosmic crime
we only exist for a moment
try and recall where the time went
was it spent with contentment
what if we all wanted less
imagine the reduction of stress
god bless everyone who has not
grateful for all that they’ve got
if i am granted not another conscious thought get this
not knowing is what i would miss
i feel we’re nearing a breakthrough
a new day humans are to awake to
it wouldn’t take nearly what some people think
afterwards it would seem like a blink
i want to be a guide
all bs-ing aside

who would work to eliminate hate

we would ensure that they make better choices

my grandfather, Jackie Earl Cockerham. all veterans of all wars, especially those who resisted the fighting, the war against peace, the drug war, ect. may we have no more forever. -__- anyone who's trying to make this world a better place, including myself, jack herer, marc emery, loretta nall, all those pot activists who have been at it forever, who knew how right they were. ralph nader, sam smith, anyone who's been out there on the cutting edge of truth and justice; willie nelson, john mellencamp, melissa ethridge, neil young, the dixie chicks for speaking their mind and not backing down, this list can go on forever......
