Lady K

Born in Tempe Arizona, the Italian American Lady K, a.k.a Katrina Jeanette Anarumo, has made music her stomping ground. Her art started when she moved to Green Township, New Jersey. Since the age of 9 she started playing music by ear and learned the complexity of classical pieces through the teachings of Beverley Flormann. At Green Hills School, starting in the fifth grade going to the eighth grade, Lady K accompanied the school choirs, performed in all the musicals and helped conduct and play in the hand bell choir. When she graduated middle school, Lady K moved to Hudson Massachusetts, where her love for the rhyming word took off. She began taking piano lessons with jazz pianist Steve Travis. Her interest in singing was supported by her vocal coach Tambre-Tarleton-Knox. Her music director Paul Johnson at Hudson High School played a significant role giving her the opportunity to play the piano and rap in all the high school productions. The 9-11 tribute at the school was where she was first noticed as a rapper, rapping acapella, in front of the American flag about the tragedy, she stood touching the hearts of her audience. At the age of 16, Lady K moved to Davenport, Florida where she attended Harrison Arts Center in Lakeland, Florida and majored in classical piano under the professors Rebekah Haubry and Paula Parsche of Florida Southern College. Trying to perfect her vocals, she studied with Jennifer Heidtmann, also a professor at FSC. Having graduated high school, Lady K moved on to College. At the age of 22, Lady K graduated the University of Miamis Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music where she studied piano under Dr. Rosalina Sackstein and Music Composition/Production under Dr. Raul Murciano Jr. She completed two degrees; one in Piano Performance and the other in Music Production. Lady K had received the Outstanding Senior in Music Compositon/ Theory at the University of Miami in 2008. She graduated Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.934. She strives to further her career in Music Production. Her passion consists of learning more about the music industry and helping to develop the talents of music artists of all types. Her determination to learn and perfect her skills in the recording studio and writing songs is her upmost priority. Its all about the music.
