Spy for the CIA (Not really...)

I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

Like those professors we all loved in college, I'm going to get to the most important point and then let you look at pictures. (Actually, I have to keep this brief because Langley has me packing for a new operation...) Here's the important stuff: I am only going to be on this earth once, and the choices I make every moment will determine the qualty of my experience. I have made the choice in my life to cultivate strong relationships at every turn. These are based on trust, respect, communication, honesty, reciprocation, generosity, compassion, and, yes, somewhere in there (at times to my big cha-motherfuckin'-grin) love. I derive meaning in life from these relationships. For this reason, it is not intuitive for me to close the door on people, whatever challenges we may have encountered. When I do, I usually feel a very powerful sense of loss. In general, I spend a lot of time thinking about why it is, given the bilions of us in the world, that two people's lives have crossed. Assuming there is meaning in that coincidence of space and time, I usually want to discover that meaning. Which takes time, and accounts for my aversion to small talk, not to mention my interest in being as honest as possible with others -- at times to a degree that defies social convention -- so that they will be honest with me. I tend to feel that, if you've reached me in some way, intentionally or not, the least I can do is is reach out to you. All that said, while mining, I sometimes encounter something(s) that cannot be assimilated. And when I do eventually find cause to draw boundaries with people, I know well enough to let the head lead the heart from that point forward. With national security riding on our shoulders, secret agents can't twice make the mistake of an error in the judgment of character. Jesus, listen to me. OK, OK, the pictures. (There are some more in my pics section, for those of you with the stomach to venture further.) Peace and Love, Inc.

I'd like to meet:

You. (Isn't that what you wanted me to say?) Who else? Deep thinkers and deep feelers. Old souls, too. Canadians make the list to boot. Gotta have me some of those. Enrique Inglesias? Why not -- doesn't everyone need a rhythm divine? Just kidding -- I have no idea why he just popped into mind. Actually, I do -- when I wrote that, I had just come home from a bar in Ireland where Rachel I were watching music videos, including something new by E.I.

Music:

Movies:

Not really a big movie person, though the list of movies I'm told I would like might be revealing... I recently enjoyed Memoires of a Geisha. If you want to know why, ask. I have in the past enjoyed Top Secret; Shadow Box; Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade; Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon; Without A Clue; The Crossing Guard; Rivers and Tides; Down With Love (though I can't watch it because E. McGregor is so good-looking in this one that it literally hurts to look at him). It might be telling that, on the loved it or hated it scale, I loved The English Patient. I am into naturalism as well, if that helps. Note: Naturalism is NOT naturism... An update: Last night I watched Motorcycle Diaries and loved it on its own terms and in contrast to the movie I watched the night before, The New World. The New World was neither new nor worldly, and I disliked it. Motorcycle Diaries presents the same problem as Down With Love, although it's Gael Garcia Bernal and not Ewan MacGreegor. But I feel the tightness in my chest the same way... Lately (early August) I've been a movie junkie: Drugstore Cowboy; Rescue Dawn; Alexander; Helvetica; Dr Bronner's Magic Soapbox; Black Hawk Down; Mhy Own Private Idaho; The Delta; If you have any recommendations for films that show Portland of yore, lemmeno. Y Tu Mama Tambien is a new addition to this list.

Television:

Haven't had one for 12 years

Books:

The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon; Now Is The Hour; Equus; Force of Nature; Don't have the energy to get into this right now...

Heroes:

Myself on a good day

Macy’s gift voucher?

A friend just informed me that I had sent him a Macy's gift voucher, which I most assuredly did not. It makes me think that some evildoing virus is spoofing my account. If you received a Macy's gift...
