One of the major contenders in the revival of heavy metal in Australia, Temtris is already known as one of the most dynamic bands in the genre. Displaying an infectious blend of technical skill and powerful song-writing ability, they are taking their unique sound and appeal to the world. Temtris are a metal rarity, a direct result of the band’s constant conviction to their craft and their fans, though to founding members Anthony Roberts (Guitar) and Genevieve Rodda (Vocals), Temtris is just metal ‘the way they want to hear it’. In 1999 their ideas attracted the interest of drummer Wayne Campbell (Mortal Sin, White Trash, Grungeon) and soon after found themselves embarking on an Australian Tour with Pegazus, Dungeon and Dark Order. "Escape Reality", an original song in their live set, attracted the attention of video company ITEMedia who asked the group for permission to use it in a project which turned out to be a High School Science Education Video about Photonics (Fibre Optic Cable). Despite the somewhat dry subject matter the band was featured live on stage throughout the short film – which still appears on the ABC TV Network as part of their Education programming (as well as many in Australian High School classrooms). In 2002, the group sought a more aggressive edge, and was joined by guitarist/songwriter Llew ‘Azhael’ Smith (Deiform, Malice, Ravensgate). They commenced work on an album, ‘THRESHOLD’, which was released in limited number in Australia.
Temtris found themselves playing back to back shows, across the country. Aaron Worboys (Bane of Isuldur), who had worked with Llew Smith in Malice took on the Bass Guitar duties for live shows but a concrete line-up continued to elude the band until 2005 after the departure of Wayne Campbell back to Mortal Sin, who were reforming, (again). The band discovered a young and talented drummer in their home town by the name of Tom Wallace, quickly dubbed ‘The Machine’ for his machine-gun like double kick abilities, followed by Bass Guitarist Gavin Swan.
It had been a long time between albums and fuelled by the enthusiasm of the new recruits Temtris headed back to the studio. The result was ‘Masquerade’ a dark and edgy collection of songs which in many ways pushed the band further into the ‘unique’ label with its raw sound and musical experimentation. Early demo tracks were released onto the internet and the response was instant with Battlegod Productions moving quickly to secure a November release of the album throughout Europe and America in partnership with Twilight Records. Currently the band is rehearsing for its own promotional tour and writing tracks for their next release.
Temtris continue to carve their own unique and dynamic musical niche in the metal realm.
