i love to learn and try new things. i also like: almost anything that gets me outdoors and/or out of the city, camping, hiking, i am an avid rock climber (j-tree anyone?), giving anesthesia, cooking, shopping, having a leasurely brunch or dinner at a restaurant, new pants and shoes, my bed, swimming in the ocean, people watching, coffee, working hard, wikipedia and mapquest, talking on the phone, plants, buying people "just because" gifts and remembering birthdays, taking naps, playing "gay volleyball" at the beach with buddies on saturday, stopping for a moment to appreciate something beautiful or interesting to me at that moment.
i love people who are adventurous and not afraid to be themselves or say what they think, but can accept that others may not think the same way. i like intelligent, witty, sarcastic, honest, talented people who have found how to express themselves in unobtrusive but interesting ways. i love that moment when you find that you have a common interest with someone new and that shared excitement that arises, or that warm and alive feeling that comes over you when a mutual flirtation begins. i like people who call me on my shit, and can handle it when i call them on theirs and understand and appreciate the honesty. i like it when someone can cuss, an appropriately placed f-bomb can say so much! people should realize that they are probably full of shit, but should own it anyway because, really, aren't we all? i like people who take care of themselves and like to look good and be/feel healthy in body and mind!
i have such a varied taste in music. some of my favorites: THE KILLERS, coldplay, justin timberlake and timberland, crystal method, mika, kelly clarkson, the prodigy, annie lennox, weekend players, missy elliot and macy gray, pink floyd, deep dish, jewel, chicane, george michael, james blunt, massive attack, sade, kylie, madonna....etc. my mood greatly influences what i am listening to at any one moment. i just recently bought a rolling stones greatest hits album and am all about it!
some movies that i will never get tired of: death becomes her, the fifth element, the incredibles, romy and michelle, basic instinct, silence of the lambs, the lord of the rings trilogy, legally blonde, the adventures of priscilla queen of the desert, closer, mean girls, hedwig and the angry inch, shortbus, underworld,
i like ANTM, futurama, heroes, smallville, workout, hey paula, top chef and project runway, discovery and history channel (again, for the nerd in me), that 70's show, king of the hill and the simpsons. i LOVE the XM radio stations, expeciall BPM (the "nocturnal" radio show with matt darey is amazing)... background music for my life!
i have a bit of a problem with books....i love to read, but will get so caught up in a book that i can't do anything else until it is finished.... and then have dreams about it. seriously, i can finish a good book in one to two days, because it is all i will do. i like books that are fun and fantasy and really take you away to another place (harry potter for example). i read a lot of discover magazine and national geographic.... a great way to keep up with science and learn about the amazing world we live in.
this section is hard for me because my heroes are much more obscure and hard to describe. they aren't mainstream or well known, but influential to me because they embody something that i would like to incorporate into my process of life. my heroes are usually friends who have been bold and confronted me about an issue and made me think with a new understanding..... not to change my opinion necessarily, but develop a higher appreciation of what it means to me and how i can use that in future interactions. my heroes are also those that see me for who i am and appreciate and respect that, and love me for that.
