About Me

************************************************************ **Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. - Lao Tzu ************************************************************ **Do not pursue the past. Do not lose youself in the future. The Past no longer is. The future has not yet come. Looking deeply at life as it is in the very here and now, the practitioner dwells in stability and freedom. We must be diligent today. To wait until tomorrow is too late. Death comes unexpectedly. How can we bargain with it? The sage calls a person who knows how to dwell in mindfulness night and day 'one who knows the better way to live alone.'adopted from the BHADDEKARATTA SUTTA, translated by Thich Nhat Hanh ************************************************************ **I pray for all of us, oppressor and friend, that together we may succeed in building a better world through human understanding and love, and that in doing so we may reduce the pain and suffering of all sentient beings.~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama, from his Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech, December 1989******************************************************** ******Spirituality is completely ordinary. Though we may speak of it as extraordinary, it is the most ordinary thing of all. Spirituality is simply a means of arousing one’s spirit, of developing a kind of spiritedness. Through that we begin to have greater contact with reality. If we open our eyes, if we open our minds, if we open our hearts, we will find that this world is a magical place. It is magical not because it tricks us or changes unexpectedly into something else, but because it can BE so vividly and brilliantly. - Lama Surya Das ************************************************************ ** Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.~ Bertrand Russell***************************************************** ********* let the beauty we love be what we do ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ ** having a blast...dancing again, and it's been an absolute gift...I never expected it to make an impact again in my life, it shaped me from the beginning, who knew it could redirect me once again when I needed it?...there is nothing like the absolute joy of movement and blending with the music and energy of the moment...it has truly been the shift I needed to take me further on my path of discovery of truth...I've been the master at masking my passions and integrating into the regular world...I will be the master at unmasking them, even if I need to relearn the integration part...thanks to all who have been and will be part of the journey. ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ **
************************************************************ **With the realization of one's own potential and self-confidence in one's ability, one can build a better world. According to my experience, self-confidence is very important. That sort of confidence is not a blind one; it is an awareness of one's own potential. On that basis, human beings can transform themselves by increasing the good qualities and reducing negative qualities.~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ **freedom comes when you don’t believe the stories of your mind ************************************************************ **

truthful, passionate, creative people...let's learn from each other ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** There's no religion but sex and music / There's no religion but sound and dancing / There's no religion but line and color / There's no religion but sacred tranceThere's no religion but the endless ocean / There's no religion but the moon and stars / There's no religion but time and motion / There's no religion, just tribal scars. . .There's no religion but the joys of rhythm / There's no religion but the rites of Spring / There's no religion in the path of hate / No prayer but the one I sing- Sting, "Send Your Love" ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ ** We need love, we need beauty, and we need at least passing acquaintance with eternity. To the soul these are absolutes, and yet in modern life these three graces of life are values largely neglected. We reduce love to interpersonal relationship and then treat relationship as an emotional problem. ... The soul longs for love that is unconditional, unending, and without tangible object.~ Thomas Moore, from Education of the Heart ************************************************************ ** ************************************************************ ** Soul receives from soul that knowledge, therefore not by book nor from tongue. If knowledge of mysteries come after emptiness of mind, that is illumination of heart. Music:

can't live without it, listen mostly in my car these days, right now to the following: Babel Soundtrack, U2, Peter Gabriel's Passion, Chet Baker, Red Hot Chili Peppers, old Bowie (Station to Station), The Chemical Brothers, David Norwood's mixes (what a gift he has). Can listen to folk (have you seen David Wilcox live? very spiritual, truly awesome) and classical (Brahms Requiem or anything featuring a cello). Love the Saltillo CD (Ganglion) and Karsh Kale. Thanks to Mark, found Ryuichi Sakamoto, he's amazingly prolific and genius. A new favorite is GiGi, a wonderful singer from Ethiopia.

Movies:

love movies, love to watch them, be in them or help produce them, used to want to be a French film star, then realized maybe just wanted to live the life they led in French films...beautiful and passionate and smart...still do, but it doesn't have to be in France

Television:

can pass the time, which is the problem...look forward to giving it up again someday - but 24 rocks!

Books:

yes, got anything good? looking for life changing stuff... read in the last year or still reading: Lama Surya Das, Paulo Coehlo, Thich Nhat Hanh, Bill O'Mara, Osho, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Eckhart Tolle, Steven Levine, whatever I can get my hands on about Buddhism, read a really good novel (Shantaram)(thanks Barry), just finished one of the most amazing books/stories I've ever read...it's called There Is No Me Without You by Melissa Fay Greene...it blew me away.

Heroes:

Osho, Jack Bauer, Manny Stepanek, anyone with the courage to search for and live the truth...oh yeah, and Dr. X (my surgeon, my hero) of course for keeping the show going... and now, a new hero by the name of Haregewoin Teferra, an Ethiopian woman with a heart the size of the universe, I long to be as selfless and as kind as she is.
You Are a Pegasus
You are a perfectionist, with an eye for beauty.
You know how to live a good life - and you rarely deviate from your good taste.
While you aren't outgoing, you have excellent social skills.
People both admire you - and feel very comfortable around you. What Mythological Creature Are You?
What Your Soul Really Looks Like
You are a wanderer. You constantly long for a new adventure, challenge, or even a completely different life.
You are a very grounded, responsible, and realistic person. People may not want to hear the truth from you, but they're going to get it.
You believe that people see you for how you are, not how you look. But deep down, you know that's not exactly true.
Your near future is still unknown, and a little scary. You'll get through wild times - and you'll textually enjoy it.
For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust. Inside the Room of Your Soul
Your Life Path Number is 5
Your purpose in life is to live freely and collect experiences.
You love life - new adventures, new people, new ideas.
You are very curious, and you crave novelty in all forms.
You tend to make friends easily, and you enjoy the company of all types of people.
In love, you are fun and even a bit intoxicating. But you won't stick around for long.
You are impulsive and spontaneous - which sometimes leads you to do things you regret.
Sometimes you can be overindulgent with food, sex, or drugs.
You have many talents, so many that you are often scattered and unfocused. What Is Your Life Path Number?
