All we're doin's havin' fun!

About Me

-------------------------------------------Back in 1998, A-Town/Music-X/ONPA recording artist Michael Sawatsewi enjoyed solo success with his debut album "Sawasdee Michael" on the strength of the Prapikaned Award-nominated "Pood La Sak Kam" and follow-up single "Cheb Krao Nee" which eventually became theme tunes to some of Channel 3's hit primetime dramas. Over the years, as a songwriter, Michael has contributed to mainstream and indie projects such as CoolVoice.com's "Limousine II" and "Discotheque" compilations, Planet Music's "Identity" compilation, and RS Promotion's recent "Kid Tueng Mae" albums, as well as solo projects by Nantana Boonlong, John Rattanaveroj, Nicole Theriault, and Dan & Beam among others. Since RS Promotion's leading lady Parn Tanaporn's 2005 cover of "Pood La Sak Kam", Michael has been co-producing and collaborating on English, Italian and Spanish-language songs with Thai/Italian Pop/Christian artist & friend Debbie K, contributing writing & vocals as a featured guest on projects by various indie acts, and amassing solo recordings for an upcoming (and long overdue!) solo release tentatively due in 2007. As of now, I'm currently working on (...albeit slowly) a new solo record. Over the years, I've amassed 30+ songs (both in Thai & in English) and still need to finalize the tracklisting. I've been writing, co-producing and appearing as a featured vocalist on upcoming (indie) records of good friends. More on that later... It's also hard to find time to finish all this 'cuz of all the other stuff I'm doing. I'm also teaching at The Wright English Club owned by longtime buddy (Acharn) Chris Wright who you should know from his Friday-night TV show 'Chris Delivery'. "Good (To See You Again)" is actually the official school song. As if that wasn't enough, I've also been enjoying myself working as editor for two publications for Asian Integrated Media, Co. Ltd called 'Apartment Living' (a lifestyle & property-themed magazine) & 'Education Living' (an international-education-based magazine)... Again, more on those later... ------------------------------------------- I consider myself a songwriter first and foremost (sometimes going by the pseudonym Mike Agana) and a vocalist second. Through writing for myself and also for a multitude of collaborators, friends and artists of varying style extremes, my songs and writing style (music-wise and lyric-wise) vary from more well-known (sorta! haha...) and expected Pop/Adult Contemporary work to material ranging from genres such as Pop/Rock to Urban to Dance/Electronica and even Chill/Experimental and Christian/Gospel. Or at least, I like to think so! Cheers!

Band Members: For my solo work, in the past and recently, I've been blessed and privileged to have had befriended and collaborated with many talented artists, arrangers, producers and songwriters such as the RS Promotion Aborigines Team, Komol 'theFUNK' Boonpienpol, Bruno Brugnano , Bancha 'Minguta' Chartmeteekul, Cyndi-Seui , Gramaphone Children (Jaree Thanapura), White Lotus Worship Music 's Paul J. Hudson, Debbie Klongtruadroke , Khan (of Thaitanium), Piya Kruta (formerly of Pong Pong), Woo-Joo 'Warren' Lee (formerly of 4MASTERS), Jeremiah P. Lipatapanlop (of Music Appreciation), Pam Lalita and Kai Sutee Sangsareechon to name a few.I'm not a band obviously... but like good friends in a band, I have learned from, gained from and enjoyed "jammin'" with these people over the years! Sometimes, as a solo singer/songwriter amidst Thailand's diminishing production budgets, there's only so much you can do by yourself, but thankfully, I've always enjoyed collaborating and working with different people on production and arrangements asides from doing my own. I look forward to putting out some of the recordings I've amassed over the years working with & off the true talents and the generosity of all these fine folks.

Influences: Too many to mention... melody-oriented stuff... interesting chord progressions... meshed with a bit of electronica... voices, harmonies... I am influenced by (and my library of unreleased songs have bits that could sound like) unabashed POP!... sometimes Adult Contemporary, Chill/Electronica, Dance, Experimental, Folk, Gospel, Rock and Urban... but no matter the sub-genre, my main tendency when writing songs is to usually focus on melody and chord progressions first and their blend with the appropriate lyrics. A good song usually translates well into different genres... it's fundamental.
Sounds Like: Pop, AC... but if I could put more songs up on MySpace, I guess you'd notice (hopefully) that my stuff sounds like a bunch of stuff! --------------------------------- Thank you to all the DJs and stations who still play some of these songs from time to time. I am forever indebted to them and to all those who still listen to and/or have a copy (tape, CD or pirated(!)) of my ~"old"~ record! Hope it takes you on a nice trip down memory lane: the vid forPood La Sak Kam

Add to My Profile | More VideosFLASHBACK/REWIND: This is what I used to sound (and look like)! This was my very first video WAY BACK in 1998… With a power ballad like ‘Pood La Sak Kam’ came the obligatory dramatic OTT music video very common back then (and still is now in Thailand). ---------------------------------The video stars actor/model Tik Chesadaporn and actress/model Benz Pornchita, still two of Thailand’s top celebrities today. With high-profile stars in the video, I’m literally in the video for, like, 5-6 seconds… doesn’t matter ‘cuz there’s too much lighting on me anyway! Haha… hope it brings back good memories. If you haven’t seen it before, hope it’s still somewhat enjoyable. You can view two other videos I did from that ERA... "Cheb Krao Nee" (the ballad version) and "Kuen Rai Dao" . They're probably around eight years old now... It's difficult for me to watch those videos... It's like looking through an old, old yearbook or something! Haha... Pardon my self-deprecation (and keep in mind these were made back in the day), but just click on those song titles to view the accompanying videos.
