About Me

I'm a cigar-smoking fitness nut, a racecar driving environmentalist, a sailor-mouthed buddhist, a musician, a soigneur, a romantic, a pessimist, a dreamer, a realist, egocentric, painfully shy, the life of the party, self-effacing, coulda-shoulda-woulda looking for the place where I fit in... Not so different from many people I know. .......If you make a friend request please also send a message so I can know your request is sincere........ Layout made by SpicySquirrel

My Interests

cycling, autocrossing, music, horology, playing with my kids, spending time with my wife, mumbling

I'd like to meet:

God - so we can sit down and straighten this whole mess out. (As a massage therapist, this video just cracks me up!)

Music:

I'll listen to ABBA or Anthrax, Frank Sinatra or Frank Zappa. World Leader Pretend, Coheed and Cambria, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, punk, rockabilly, surf, classical, hip-hop, trip-hop, J-pop, soda pop...

Movies:

The Mission, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Like Water for Chocolate, The J-men Forever, West Side Story, anything by Stanley Kubrick, Pedro Almodavar, Robert Rodriguez, Quinten Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Akira Kurosawa, Sergio Leone, Wes Anderson, Fellini, Robert Altman, Woody Allen, Le Femme Nikita, Grand Prix, ...

Television:

I hate television because I know I could be doing so much more with my time but I sure spend a lot of time staring at it. Discovery, Nat'l Geo, Ghost Hunters... Oh, yeah! the Venture Bro.s rocks out loud! Yeah, that's about it.

Books:

Wish I had more time to read but I'm busy watching TV! I read a lot of nonfiction on Zen, Buddhism, cycling, music, cars, horology. I've been trying to catch up for some time. Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Frankenstein is one of my favorites.

Heroes:

My Dad, of course. If I could be like him, I'd be a better person. My wife for putting up with me all these years. She's the Super-ego to my Id.

My Blog

My cat is not the Buddha

My cat is not the Buddha. She is two years old and spends a good deal of her time outside my daughter's bird's cage. She'll stay there just staring, sometimes stalking the bird hoping, wishing, t...

Death is a natural part of our cycle. As obvious as that is it still gives me pause everytime a friend or acquaitance passes even though some I've known were very old and it seems like their time. It'...

Lyrics

I was cleaning out some stuff today and came across my "band folder." Not my notebook of completed songs but a folder from my band leader days with scribblings and notes and strange hieroglyphics in ...

Give a Hoot...

Just got back from my morning bike ride and I have to rant. It's unbelievable how much trash is left on the sides of the roads!  Not just beer bottles and soda cans, but huge appliance boxes, air...

Who's your Daddy?

Tonight, the rain held off enough for me to go outside after I told the kids goodnight and put them to bed. The clouds still blanketed the sky but the light of the full moon gave them a lavender glow,...

A little of the old in-out

Okay, everyone just take a minute. Sit up straight. Deep breath all the way in, all the way out. Silly indeed. You only think you know how. But Don Imus is obviously having trouble with the proc...

Plus ca change ...

The last six months have been egging me on, calling to me to reminisce about those ancient days of yore. Since our 20 year high school reunion (which I unfortunately couldn't attend...

Old guys who get fat in winter

Well, I've tried. I've really tried but I just can't do it. I just can't seem to make myself exercise in the winter. The caveman in me wants to pack on that winter survival weight a...
