About Me

Once in a while, an individual comes along and makes an impression beyond words with musical talent unseen. That individual this time around is Satchill Head. Since the age of seven, Walter C. Jones also known as Satchill Head has been obsessed with music. Not even learning music formally, the gift within him had awakened early in life. From banging on pots and pans in the kitchen as a toddler to playing 80's tunes on a portable Casio keyboard. His grandparents were a major encouragement in his life and musical growth. Satchill participated in church choir and youth plays presented in his community in the Phoebus area of Hampton, Virginia where he was raised. Being so musically inclined, Satchill listened intently to many genres of music from Fillmotions to Duke Ellington to Johann Sebastain Bach to Mahalia Jackson to his favorite 70's Disco, Rock and Funk plus among many artist. In the third grade, Satchill was so involved in art and music, his grandparents encouraged him to learn more, Satchill paid attention so fervently about musical styles and instrumentals; he learned how to "read" music without learning to actually read music. Listening so well by ear, in High School, Satchill Head was truly obsessed with music. He reluctantly skipped classes just to listen to the band practice and bang on the lockers outsides of the classroom mimicking the tempo like a metronome. Satchill Head enjoyed the music he grew up with, but with the onset of Hip-Hop, that blew his mind. Finally, the elements he was combining in his head; tempo beat and melody blended into one sound. The same way Hip-Hop revolutionized music forever, Satchill Head was changed as well. His love for music became a passion. A passionate pursuit for the perfect sound. From his high school years to his late twenties, Satchill Head traveled and lived many places along the East Coast. He surrounded himself with music, music production, and artist alike. He wanted to learn more than the basics he'd already mastered, but to no avail, no one wanted to share their ideas or techniques with him. Those situations fueled the determination he had to create music. Satchill studied, researched and obtained various music resources, books, materials, equipment and software to enhance his natural abilities and create music from his heart & soul. Since 2001, Satchill Head has resided in Greensboro, North Carolina and has continued to grow in his passion for the sound he desires to achieve. In this journey he has produced music for Universal Mathematics, Savant, Danni Bay, Jazzarae, Mr. Kind, Ken Flow, The Manhattan Project and Treason of Occupyed Space plus many more up and coming artist. His passion by still learning from observation of what others won't teach, evolving his own methods & techniques and building his business, one beat at a time.
