SHELBY DOWNING~NASHVILLE, TN/LONGVIEW,TX
Shelby Downing has been raising eyebrows for quite some time now. Despite her young age, there is a maturity and passion in her voice that excels her natural and explosive talent. After making numerous appearances and consistently wowing audiences, people have been talking about this little gem. Hear just one phrase and you'll know what all the fuss is about. Her voice is a subtle mix of country and soul... her deep, moving tones will certainly take you by surprise! At the age of 2, Shelby stomped around the house belting out Barney tunes at the top of her lungs and singing along with country greats like Reba and Tanya. At the age of five, she made her musical debut to a crowd of 200 at a family reunion, taking the stage with confidence and poise well beyond her years. It's natural to want to compare Shelby to a young LeAnn Rimes. Like LeAnn, she started singing at a very early age and people are amazed by the power and presence of Shelby's voice. As far as the comparison goes, it is certainly not unwarranted. Shelby has an amazing gift. Shelby has become an annual favorite at regional festivals and rodeos. She's appeared at the Longview Alleyfest (TX) for the last three years, the Marshall Fireant Festival (TX) where she opened for Pake McEntire. Reba's brother was blown away and the two will team up again at the upcoming festival. She has appeared a the Henderson Ranch Rodeo, East Texas Idol and Mardi Gras Up River in Jefferson (TX) which is where they began to take Shelby seriously. Shelby captivated the audience with her vocal style and charisma. When she came off the stage, people began to crowd around her asking for autographs, signing everything from napkins to coats and hats. The city of Jefferson embraced her with open arms and the Mardi Gras coordinators immediately booked her next year and even custom made a special Jefferson Mardi Gras jacket for the young singer. Shelby is taking all the attention in stride. She is glad to lend her talents to help some higher causes like local charity events such as the R&K Distributing Christmas Pantry and another cause especially close to her heart, mentally challenged children. (Shelby's brother suffers from a handicap and she is aware of the challenges that families like hers face). Shelby began taking vocal instructions in Nashville with Renee Grant-Williams to enhance her vocal skills even further. She joins other well known students like Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, the Dixie Chicks and others. Shelby is also home schooled, while on the road she has a tutor with her so she is able to continue her education while away from home. If you haven't heard Shelby yet, grab onto your seats and experience an amazing new voice in country music as Shelby's voice explodes through your speakers with the excitement of someone doing what they were born to do.
