Update:30/07/2007
Where did Iberah start?Iberah originally started in the beginning of 2006, experiencing great success in its first 3 months. Due to creative differences one or the guitarist left, the band stayed together as a 3 piece for a further 3 months until another guitarist came along in early September 06. Since then the band has been going from strength the strength.
Where does Iberah come from?
We don't quite know… it just happened! The dictionary definition states Iberah is the first nucleus of a new born planet. The name sounds cool 2! The pronunciation is eye-be-rah.
Where do you take your inspiration? All band members take their inspiration from many different bands across a wide variety of music. Therefore, every member brings a different perspective into the band and thus producing a sound that is fresh and unique. Main influences are Incubus, Rage against the Machine, Audioslave, Lost Prophets, 16 Stitch, Rise Against, Mars Volta, Sound Garden and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

We have had a hard time defining our style due to our unique sound. We decided to call our style of music Funk rock. A number of genres are encompassed in Iberah; rock, fuck, punk, jazz and various others.
What makes Iberah different?Apart from the fact that we take all our gigs seriously, we have a sound and stage act that you will not see from any other band. We are professional and strive for a new interesting style of music. We prefer not to be like any other band.
What are the band achievements?Won the Reddom House Battle of the Bands and beat 17 other bands on only its 3rd gig as a band. They played in the finals of the Hardcore Management Battle of the Bands, beating approximately 40 other bands. The band was interviewed by the Edenvale/Bedfordview news and by UJ Fm 95.4.They were sent straight through to the finals of the Yamaha Young Talent Contest at Carnival City.
Where have we been?Well with a number of gigs and old material being played, we felt we needed a break to get back to writing a seeing if we were happy with our music. After a few weeks we are feeling confident to play again.
What do we want to achieve as a band? While the South African Rock market is extremely fun and friendly (on occasion) we as a band want to appeal to many different genres and classes of people. The Rock market simply is too small and to succeed in promoting our music we must and enjoy applying many different styles. Aside from this we aim to give an amazing performance every show, creating a dynamic, functional and atmospheric environment. On occasion we have felt that the standards of gigging in South African Music has fallen victim to neglect from the artists/bands. We feel a unique aspect is required in every band for it to stand out amongst others.
A last wordApart from everything we truly enjoy playing music and each show is eagerly looked forward to. While it is often hard, we try to ensure that everything from the professionalism of our set, to the quality of sound is perfect. We feel a responsibility to perform professionally and happily we simply ask all you do is listen… Enjoy… and support us.
