Self Appreciating Bass Monkee

About Me

Hiya, I'm Jim, bass player with such groups as Space Jazz Afro Funk pioneers Paper Tiger , Wolverhampton based Pink Floyd experience Darkside , electro/acoustic group Remnants , the jam bands of Divine Brothers and Feeky Chuckers , and most recently singer/songwriter Aaron Yorke .I've also worked alongside producer Fantastic Mr Fox , U.S. hip hop trio elevatedSOUL , the progressive jazz outfit Fast Idiots , acoustic duo The Buzz , and mastered the Blues with the Archer-Marriott Band .

Tracks from Paper Tiger, Darkside, Remnants, Divine Brothers and Aaron Yorke can be heard here , courtesy of CastMP3 .

I like to play varied styles of music, always looking forward to working with new people and playing live whenever possible. Hopefully the music showcased on this page can give a small insight to what I do and promote each band in it's own way. There have been many musicians that have inspired and influenced me since I started out. From when I first picked up the bass I've always been fascinated by the stylised sound of Nirvana bassist, Krist Novoselic . I spent ages trying to recreate that classic grungy sound, and from there I moved on the Godfather of Grunge, Neil Young and his band Crazy Horse .I've always had a great passion for jazz so naturally bass players like Charlie Mingus , Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke have all had a profound effect upon me, but undoubtedly the finest player, Jaco Pastorius has made the biggest impression on my playing. When not gigging I like to spend as much time as possible jamming locally at the cream of Wolverhampton's Open Mic venues, places like the Chindit and City Bar , and occasionally over at the Harp in Albrighton and Stumble Inn of Cannock.Czech what I'm currently listening to here: Last.Fm
