Jet Black & The Multicolors is a band with 9 lives.
Formed in London in early 2004 and originally a 9 piece funk band, Jet Black & The Multicolors rocked most London venues and received great reviews from record labels and promoters alike.
Nearly a year after its conception The Multicolors were disbanded as Jet Black moved to Cape Town to reform the band and experiment with new concepts.
On its 2nd lease on life Jet Black & The Multicolors reinvented themselves as a Funk/Rock House band catering for the club scene and the dancefloor.
Replacing the drum kit for a GrooveBox was essentially all that had to be done to catapult the band into a whole new genre of sound, coupled with catchy licks, rippin' funk and rock guitar riffs, a synth based Fx layer and a wide range of vocal styles, Jet Black & The Multicolors came out all guns blazing and the result was astonishing!!!
But now the band is in its 3rd life cycle, and things have taken a new direction...
The band now has only 4 members, and they are experimenting with raw rock in its purest form, that is to say... Distorted guitar, vox, an organic drumkit and as a twist to the recipe, a synth based deep square-wave bass.
Whichever form or style of music Jet Black & The Multicolors has embraced, they've had the opportunity to perform to international crowds in prestigious venues such as The Cobden Club, Sound Republic, Woodys Rhythm Bar, Kashmir Klub, Blue Moon Café, Vertigo, Luminaire, Cosmo Bar & Cherry Red in London U.K.
Since their launch in South Africa one year ago Jet Black & The Multicolors have performed at The Bang Bang Club, Baraza, Chrome, Roosevelt, Opium, Moda Hema, The Planet Bar, Rhodes House, Raffikis in Cape Town and Society in Durban.
The new 4 piece outfit had its debut performance as one of the 5 finalists in the HP DesignYourOwnLife Battle of the Bands Competition, where Jet Black & The Multicolors performed at The Venue in Melrose Arch Johannesburg, an event which was aired live in Athens, Istanbul and Dubai.
The band also received extensive airplay on Good Hope Fm with their single "Break The Rules" which has been on the Top 30 charts for 15 weeks and held 3rd place in the Top 10 for 7 weeks!
This song has also been playlisted on The Drive-Time Show with Dj Fresh on 5Fm.
Jet Black & The Multicolors have recently finished developing a new sound for their debut EP.
The lyrical content of the album moves through the entire span of human emotion and pitfalls… There are songs about One Night Affairs, Secret Admirers, Religious Hypocrisy, Parental Failure, Personal Integrity, Self-Love, Eternal Existence and many more…
