Neil and the Real Deal

TEXAS BLUES TRIO

About Me

You've been marked on my visitor map!
Neil and the Real Deal is a Texas Blues and Classic Rock Band based out of Brenham and Bryan Texas. For years Neil was mainly a sideman and Steel Guitarist to artist such as Lyle Lovett , Gary P. Nunn and Kinky Friedman . Neil has been the man on call for his ability to sit in with anyone on a moments notice. In early 1996 Neil decided to form his own band originally called The Neil Kulhanek Band. Neil wanted his band to go back to the roots of music and play Rhythm and Blues, the music that he grew up listening to and loved instead of playing popular radio songs. Neil also wanted to pursue writing and recording original music. It wasn’t long before he enlisted the help of his friends bassist Will Rose and drummer Brad Taplin to round out his group. Neil had played with both Will and Brad in several other bands and they were just who he needed to make this three piece band gel. With everyone singing as well as playing, it’s been said that the band sounds like there’s five people on stage instead of three. All three members come from very diverse musical back grounds and have played everything from Classical and Jazz in school band to Rock , Country , Blues and Reggae in bands traveling all over the world. Neil and the Real Deal mainly play regional to Texas now days and are writing and recording original songs. Our lastest cd “ Living With The Blues “ is self recorded and produced.
