About Me

Hello, I'm Danny A. I write the words. What I'm trying to do is to say something about being a man, alone. This manifests itself in the lyrics as a pretty mixed bag of pathos, frustration, love, laughs, silence and howl, feeling and reason. Steve James plays piano. He used to be a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist in an experimental alternative-acoustic band named Semble. Dan Best plays drums. He used to be a singer/sonwriter/multi-instrumentalist in an epic Post Rock band named Nun Of The Above. I play acoustic guitar. Knocked about a bit on my own on smokey folky stages around town. We've stripped things back, feeding off of the tension involved in trying to create interesting and dynamically challenging compositions with just these 3 acoustic intruments. We'll be adding zither, bass, trumpet, glockenspiel and lots more voices to the new recordings (in progress), but it's important that the songs still work live, with the 3 elements. Our album is a live recording of us in a church. We'd like to get to the heart of the matter in as few words as possible, throw in some surprises, make you chew over our expansive (if a bit wonky) sonic landscape, and most of all give the slow train of Meaning a chance to catch up with the fast train of Information, which is getting rarer and rarer these days to everyone's expense.
