Giscard Nazon started playing the violin at 7 at the Holy Trinity Music School (Ecole de Musique Sainte-Trinite) in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He played in the school's beginner and intermediate level string orchestras and later joined the Holy Trinity Philharmonic Orchestra (Orchestre Philharmonique Sainte-Trinite) in 1994. From 1994 to 1998 he performed with the philharmonic orchestra and during his last year was also a violinist in the Holy Trinity String Quartet, which took part that year in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, IN.
In 1999, after graduating from high school, Giscard traveled to Florida and started Computer Science studies. In 2001, he won the Creative Music Award at the Florida Regional Convention of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for his violin solo "Tete-a-Tete". His music activities then focused more on composing and the occasional performance until the Fall of 2003 when he performed with the Florida International University Symphony Orchestra as a violin and music theory student.
Since 2004, Giscard has been most active performing with and collaborating with his friends - Frantz-Eddy Daniel and the group F.E.D. and Friends, James Racine and the group Racine Kompa. He recently took part in the music competition International Music Awards 2006 organized by Music Aid, a branch of the United Nations Volunteers, and his composition "Master Peace Agreement" was voted second as the Best Composition for Haiti.
Giscard has an album in the works, which will showcase his unique style and the various influences that have funneled through his inspiration over the years: Classical music, Konpa, Zouk, Rasin, R & B, and other Caribbean and Latin rhythms. He also has long term projects to help promote Haitian art music, taking it beyond university classrooms and the sparse circles of musicians that know its richness.
