About Me

Why is it that no one ever tells you that no matter how old you get you never truly feel like a grown up? I have a "real job" own a house and some real furniture yet I don't feel any different than I did when I was a kid. You'd think someone would warn you about this kind of thing. So any young ones out there reading this, consider yourself warned.
I sometimes find it difficult to describe Baltimore to someone who has never been here. I think John Waters summed it up best when he said something along the lines of "New Yorkers are weird and they know it. But Baltimoreans are weird--and they have no idea." Yup, that's my home town. Full of weirdos who have no idea they are weird. But that's a good thing.
  • I like taking pictures.New camera is on the way.SOOOOO excited.
  • I am a bit of an anachronism..no cell phone no car
  • I REALLY like cheese
  • I have lost the battle with the rogue gray hairs...they are officially taking over
  • I have a special place in my heart for silly fun music like
They Might Be Giants and Cake
  • I firmly believe that Johnny Cash's cover of "Personal Jesus" is better than the original
  • I love my German boy :-)
  • I have a terrible memory..faces yes..names probably not
  • I love Thai food. My amazing husband makes a mean green curry (Gaeng Koew Wan)and Baltimore's best Thai restaurant is practically around the corner from us I buy lots of blank books, notebooks, and stationary. Often they never get written in or on. But it's the endless possibilities that they represent that keep my going back for more
  • The term "gone missing" on the lips of an American is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me
  • I am a bit of an introvert with just a touch of social anxiety mixed in (my husband wants me to tell you he is even MORE of an introvert than I am. Amazing we found each other huh?)
  • I throw the most awesome parties in my head. Never throw any in real life.Last one I tried was New Year's Eve. Awesome spread. Lots of good food and good drink. No one showed until my parents rolled in about 11. They left at 12:15. There were a lot of leftovers. See why I prefer throwing them in my head?
  • I make a mean pot of chicken noodle soup with a spicy twist If I won the lottery I would buy myself a little store and sell random fun, funky, old, vintage, antique, and cool stuff
  • I love elephants. They are such sweet giants and the depth of emotion you can see in their eyes is amazing. My mother tells a story about a visit to the Washington Zoo when I was about 3 years old. She took her eyes off of me for one second and turned back to see me headed through some bars to go visit the elephants. When she grabbed me and asked me what I thought I was doing I explained to her very calmly "But Mommy, they were smiling at me." I still think that they are smiling at me.
  • One of my most favorite things in the world is sitting in a dark movie theater watching a great film. Even a bad one can be nice. Oh, and if you are in Baltimore, or nearby, and haven't done the Maryland Film Festival before you owe it to yourself to give it a try. You will NOT be sorry. Oh and while I am doing plugs join the Friends of the Maryland Film Festival...go, do it now
  • My familiar, or totem, is the crow. Wanna make something of it?
  • I heart artists of all kinds.Bless your creative souls
  • I am super-irritated by private profiles on MySpace unless you are under 18. It’s a SOCIAL network people. What’s the point? Oh and even worse are randomly private blogs. Come on e-mail your pals or pick up the phone if you have something to say that the public shouldn’t know. (*hugs* luv ya!! friends who are set to private)
  • Pictures of your ass as a profile pic on MySpace..what the hell is that about ladies? And boob shots? *shaking head*
  • Just to continue with my MySpace rant...disabling HTML comments drives me freakin' nuts. Live on the edge people, let loose a little, dare to allow HTML. If you are on my friends list and I haven't left you a comment yet it is likely because you have your HTML comments disabled. You are stifling my creativity...sheesh
  • Curiouser and curiouser are good words to live by
  • I miss making books.
  • I have a love hate relationship with Excel.
  • Those damn self check-outs irritate me. They tell us they are "FUN" what the heck is fun about them? You pay a mark up on all that food in your cart to help pay for the employee's salary who is supposed to be checking you out. If you do your own work then they should offer a discount off of your order since they do not need to pay a checker to do it. I'd be all about it then..fun or not.
  • I *heart* Geeks
  • People talking on their cellphones instead of the people they are with drives me nuts. People talking on the cellphone instead of paying attention to their driving makes my blood boil
  • I used to love "arguing". Logic and Philosophy were my favorite courses in college. I remember being so sure of myself and my convictions back then. I was bull headed and brash. I knew I was right. I miss that me. What has replaced her is a slightly faded version. Oh there are bright shimmery spots of that old me still there. But life has caused some kind of overall dulling down.
  • I am math phobic yet strangely attracted to numbers. I love pulling data into spreadsheets and manipulating the numbers.
  • I love this picture(below).I love how you can see the reflection of the cat in the glass. Cool huh? I took it at Ernest Hemingway's house in Key West.

    Bad Dude

    I'd like to meet:

“Not being able to touch is sometimes as interesting as being able to touch.” -Andy Goldsworthy “Oh, yes. I knew I was weird by the time I was four” - Robert Crumb “I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.” - Oscar Wilde “When angry, count to four. When very angry, swear.” – Mark Twain "Toil without song is like a weary journey without an end." - H.P. Lovecraft "It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets." -Voltaire "If you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original." -Sir Ken Robinson "Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race." H.G. Wells "Always be smarter than the people who hire you." -Lena Horne Everything popular is wrong."- Oscar Wilde "You don't regret a single day!" -Dieval “I love sleep. My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” – Ernest Hemingway "Everyone should have an evil secret plan..." - Denis Leary "Advertising is legalized lying." - H.G. Wells "The last 29 days of the month [are] the hardest." - Nikola Tesla "God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh." -Voltaire I fear my enthusiasm flags when real work is demanded of me." - H.P. Lovecraft "I would rather play someone who's fuc*ked-up and deep than someone who's one-dimensional and invisible. I would rather drive something and be crazy than be forgotten and nothing" -Lily Taylor "Heaven knows where I'll end up - but it's a safe bet that I'll never be at the top of anything! Nor do I particularly care to be." - H.P. Lovecraft "When the rich make war it's the poor that die" -Sartre "All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind." - Aristotle "One should always aim at being interesting rather than exact." “Everything we know in our experience suggests that information rich systems arise from intelligent design….What we are seeing in the DNA molecule is actually an artifact of mind, an artifact of intelligence. Something that can only be explained by intelligent design.”- Stephen C. Meyer, director and Senior Fellow of the Center for Science and Culture at the Discovery Institute, in Seattle. "Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast." -Oscar Wilde "It won’t be quiet, it won't be safe, and it won't be calm but I’ll tell you what it will be....the trip of a lifetime." -Dr. Who “My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return.” – Maya Angelou "If you are lonely when you're alone, you are in bad company" -Sartre One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important." -Bertrand Russell “Oh my dear paws! Oh my fur and whiskers!” - The White Rabbit Seriousness is the only refuge of the shallow." -Oscar Wilde Go to hell..fu*k you. Go to hell..fu*k you. Go to hell. I love you. I love you too." -Lisa Germano “We live in species ghettoes. There used to be a diversity of species in places we lived, whereas now, we have very little interaction with other species. When we’re young there’s not that sense of being isolated from other species. Young children are able to speak with animals, and then they get banished.” – Gregory Colbert “Without obsession, life is nothing.” – John Waters

    Ashes and Snow
“In the beginning of time, the skies were filled with flying elephants. Too heavy for their wings, they sometimes crashed through the trees and frightened other animals.
All the flying grey elephants migrated to the source of the Ganges. They agreed to renounce their wings and settle on the earth. When they molted, millions of wings fell to the earth, the snow covered them, and the Himalayas were born….
The blue elephants landed in the sea and their wings became fins. They are whales the trunkless elephants of the oceans. Their cousins are the manatees, the trunkless elephants of the rivers.
The chameleon elephants kept their wings, but agreed never again to land on the earth. When they go to sleep, the elephants always lie down in the same place in the sky and dream with one eye open. The stars you see at night are the unblinking eyes of sleeping elephants, who sleep with one eye open to best keep watch over us."
