PANOPTIKON: Lord Byron & Angry Jon.Originally, I heard the name panopticon as the title to Diamanda Galas' first record & I loved to word. After I learned what it meant, I somehow wanted to use it for a club theme. The word is unique, cold, and abrasive all at the same time.
I have a working (and playing) history with Club ONE and always loved the space. It's slightly removed from everything else & it's always been a little underground and a little seedy at times. PLUS, it matched up perfectly with panopticon.
We tested the format as an event in May 2006. With a lot of help from some great friends, it was a success. I changed the 'c' to 'k' & got PANOPTIKON.
There are no boundaries on the inside. A total freedom of expression, underground dance club. When you're in the club, be sure to find me & say hello. We love playing requests. It's you who make this night so cool. Thank you. Enjoy PANOPTIKON. – Byron
panopticon: (1)A concrete prison so contructed that the inspector can see each of the prisoners at all times, without being seen. (2)A room full of amusement objects.
