"Calm it down, smooth it out, don't freak out this time. Make it straight, keep it tame, don't go crazy." The lyrics to her songs may not hide the fact that she has been through some rough times and rocky relationships, but that's exactly how Lindsay Joa likes it. Always ready to tell it like it is and unafraid to bare her soul to the world, this talented young singer/songwriter was born and raised in South Florida. Taught to play piano at a young age by her grandmother, she couldn’t stand practicing and quit many times before picking it up for good as a teenager when she began writing poetry. What started as just some basic chords behind melodic poems has now evolved to a unique style all her own. Most of her songs are piano driven; however she will occasionally pick up a guitar when necessary such as in 2005 when she moved to London without her piano but still desperately needed a way to make music. Her first EP was recorded in late 2005 with two of the three songs being guitar driven ones which were composed in London and recorded in Miami, Florida. Wanting to record something more piano based, she immediately went back in the studio and recorded her second EP Someday which was released in October 2006. She has been performing throughout the South Florida area promoting this CD and has plans to do a brief tour of the U.S. in 2007 as well as head back into the studio to record a full length album. In her own words: "I write music because my soul longs for creative expression and trust me you don't want to piss off my soul. My only goal is for my music to bring people back to love and help them ride the wave of all of it's ups and downs."
