Malcolm Brown: Composer

About Me

It was May 2005 when I decided to try my hand at composition despite having no composition training or experience and not having progressed beyond Grade 1 Piano. I did however have a lot of time on my hands having recently retired to the Isle of Wight and you can only spend so long painting the house and digging the garden. My aim was to write a series of short pieces that, at least to me, portray the village, the people and the Island. This aim continues and if sufficient of the pieces are reasonable, I intend to put them on a CD and sell them with all proceeds going to local charities.
I have also just finished the Eightfold Year CD and hope to find a way of selling it this year with all proceeds going to local environmental charities.
All the tracks from my Eightfold Year CD are now available for free download at Soundclick.com along with other pieces old and new. The address is:

The piece I wrote for the international children's charity project (WATF) called We are the Future of the World actually managed to reach number 35 in the soundclick.com classical charts. Might not mean much to some but for an amateur like me, it's amazing! Phew, I'm all of a fluster!
