What are three economic immigrants to do? Play music! This is what The Grog does best, or at least tries to do....
The Grog is comprised of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalists Andrew Dalton, Paul Moreau, and Andrew Newton. Originally hailing from Halifax NS, Paradise NL, and Halifax NS, respectively, these three have been playing music individually for a number of years before meeting at the Royal Military College of Canada.
In the fall of 2004, The Grog started playing in Kingston at monthly Celtic Jam Sessions hosted by the Kingston Irish Folk Club at Ben's Pub. When Vile Richard passed through Kingston as a part of their Mistress tour, The Grog was given an opportunity to play at two new venues: the Scherzo Pub, and CFB Kingston's Jr Ranks Mess for St Patrick's Day. They were also given a chance to perform for their peers at the RMC Talent Show, and the First Year Class Party held at Philty McNasty's.
This year, with the recent addition of the multi-talented Jeremy Hancott on bass, straight out of Gander Bay, NL, The Grog has been taken to a whole new level. More outrageous harmonies, fuller sound, and more thump. The 2006-2007 year should see the boys playing more and in multiple venues. Keep an eye out; you never know where they might be next....
