a Patrick Allen Kelley was raised surrounded by music in the Texas Hill Country. Born in Houston, TX and raised in the Bandera-Medina area, he moved to Austin and then to Waco where he started writing songs about home. He later moved back to Bandera and began to perform his original songs. He auditioned for MCA through Capitol Management and famous producer Robert Metzgar said "Pat Kelley has great songs, great original works." Pat has been generating a musical buzz in the Hill Country for the past few years. The evolution of Pat's music led to the creation of the band Kelley Kan't Make It. The band was formed in 2005, originally dubbed The Pat Kelley Band. With the influences of the creative members on board to add to Pat's style, the sound became truly different Texas music. The drummer, Kyle Phillips, is also Pat's brother-in-law. They come from different backgrounds of music and experience. Kyle was a seasoned veteran of the Austin rock/metal scene and retired his sticks to live out in the country. When hearing Pat's songs, Kyle came out of retirement and the collaboration between the two has inspired a sound that is Texas with attitude. With Chris Valdez on bass, these three created a trio that immeadiately drew attention. They were asked to play the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and were headliners at the famous but now defunct Caberet in Bandera. Feeling they could add to their sound, which by this time was labled "Bandera Rock and Roll", longtime friends and musicians B.J. Chapin and "Dobro" Joe Henderson were invited to join the band full time. The line up was complete and these five created a sound that crossed the genres of rock, country, honky tonk, and blues, and created a fan base of the young to the young at heart. Led by what the Bandera Saloon called, "The amazing guitar style of Pat Kelley" these five turned heads and made fans wherever they went. They were just as quick to buy their fans beers and shots and throw famous after parties as they were to put on shows that one fan characterized as, "It was like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Hank Williams met in Heaven and got stuck". Chris left the band in August of 2007 and the band was at a crossroad. Carry on or not? The decision was made and B.J. (now nicknamed "Rock Solid" by his bandmates) manned up and took over the duties of thumping on the bass. The four are currently recording their first full length album and are itching to get back up on the stage to play live once again.
