El Gran Torino

A principios de 2004 se encendió el motor de El Gran Torino, banda actualmente conformada por Víctor Hugo Mendoza (Spias, Plomo, Motor X, SQP) en la guitarra, teclados y voces; José Juan Sanguinetti (cultOOculto, Slam Ballet, SQP) en la batería, Eduardo Viloria (Feed Back, En la luna) en los teclados y coros, y Carlos Martini (La Cándida Vírgen) en el bajo.

Desde su formación El Gran Torino -nombre alusivo al modelo de la Ford que conducían Starsky y Hutch en la popular serie de los 70- ha apostando a una propuesta espontánea, basada en el rockn roll y la electrónica con sonidos que combinan lo clásico y lo vanguardista.

Durante su corto pero veloz recorrido, la banda ha subido a los escenarios de importantes eventos en Caracas y el interior del país, como el ICE Motor Fest en el Aeropuerto La Carlota, Premios Venezuela Pop & Rock 2004, Maracay Rumbera Music Fest 2004 y el tributo Lo Nuestro a Pink Floyd en el Teatro Trasnocho Cultural. En este tiempo también editaron los videoclips de Shaman, El encendedor y La lectura del destino; estos dos últimos temas han estado rotando en varias emisoras del país.

En el segundo semestre de 2005, El Gran Torino se fue de gira por varios estados de Venezuela en su denominado Tourbinario, junto a la banda La Puta Eléctrica. Paralelamente, el grupo lanzó un EP de edición limitada llamado Ocho Cilindros -a través del sello La Perilla Discos-, una placa llena de rockn roll, electrónica y sonidos de la calle.

El Gran Torino es una banda que siempre está en movimiento, nutriéndose de experiencias cotidianas que quedan plasmadas en cada uno de sus temas. Actualmente prepara su primer larga duración. English:
At the beginning of 2004 the motor of El Gran Torino ignited, band at the moment conformed by Victor Hugo Mendoza (Spias, Plomo, Motor X, SQP) in the guitar, keyboards and voices, Jose Juan Sanguinetti (cultOOculto, Slam Ballet, SQP) in the drums, Eduardo Viloria (Feed Back, En la luna) in the keyboards and choirs, and Carlos Martini (La Cándida Vírgen) in the bass guitar.

From its formation El Gran Torino - allusive name to the model of Ford which Starsky and Hutch in the popular series of the ‘70s - is betting to a spontaneous proposal, cradle in rock n’ roll and the electronics with sounds that combine the classic thing and the vanguard.

During its short but quick route, the band has raised the scenes of important events in Caracas and the rear area, as the Carlota ICE Motor Fest in the La Carlota Airport, Premios Pop & Rock Venezuela 2004, Maracay Rumbera Music Fest 2004 and the tribute Lo Nuestro to Pink Floyd in Trasnocho Cultural Theater. In this time also they published videoclips of Shaman, El encendedor and La lectura del destino; these two last songs have been rotating in several radio stations of the country.

In the second semester of 2005, El Gran Torino went on a tour by several states of Venezuela in his denominated Tourbinario, next to the band La Puta Eléctrica. Parallelly, the group sent to a EP of limited edition called Ocho Cilindros - traverse of the seal La Perilla Discos, a full plate of rockn roll, electronics and sounds of the street. El Gran Torino is a band that always is in movement, nourishing itself of daily experiences that are shaped in each one of their songs. At the moment they are preparing their first long duration.
