I am here for Friends

About Me

Born and bred in Edinburgh, I love my family and friends and will stand by anyone who needs me. I'm just me, take me or leave me. I don't like being judged and I don't believe anyone should judge you unless they have walked a mile in your shoes. I also strongly believe in karma and what goes around comes around. Take me as I am cos this is me, good points and bad :) I attend Beatleweek in Liverpool every year and have met so many good friends there, life-long ones, they're the best people in the world! My passion for the Beatles goes back as far as I can remember, having grown up with it all around me and its been a constant throughout my life. It makes me happy, it comforts me, it lifts me, it soothes me.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

MySpace Avatars Lyrics

I'd like to meet:

Anyone, especially anyone fun loving and that can make me laugh, there's too much sadness in life sometimes so if I can be made to laugh, I'll go with that every time! Although I do know the odd grump but that's ok too ;) A wicked sense of humour wins me over easily, someone with a naughty twinkle or sparkle in their eye and you just know they're going to crack you up.

Music:

Like all sorts of music, but my big passion is The Beatles and John, Paul and George's solo music. Will listen to anything once, discovering new music by chance or through friends. Others I like are Robbie Williams, Stereophonics, Oasis, Travis, Keane, Snow Patrol, KT Tunstall, Norah Jones, Koala, The Prellies, all sorts of 50s and 60s songs and a load of bands that play Beatleweek every year. As I say like all sorts of music and like discovering something new.

Movies:

I quite like old films, ones you can sink into a chair on a rainy afternoon (well I do live in Scotland) and not surface for some time. Favourites ranging from things like The Wizard of Oz, Arsenic and Old Lace, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Brief Encounter, Greyfriars Bobby (really dated inaccurate film but I love it), to Grease to How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days to Moulin Rouge to Braveheart (and pretty much any Mel Gibson or Ewan MacGregor film). Love all The Beatles' films, my favourite is Help! but love AHDN too. Enjoy MMT, Yellow Submarine and Let It Be also, each one has its own special quality about it. Another inaccurate film I love is Birth of The Beatles, there's something charmingly bad about it :)

Television:

Friends, Will and Grace, Only Fools and Horses, Men Behaving Badly, Alan Partridge, Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, The Office, Extras, Vicar of Dibley, The Friday Night Project, Deal or No Deal and unfortunately I shamelessly hold my hands up to getting addicted to the big reality tv shows and had a minor freak out when I thought the final of Big Brother was going to coincide with Beatleweek last year :)

Books:

Some favourites are Interpretation of Murder, Time Traveler's Wife, Shadow of the Wind, Birdsong, Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code, The Lovely Bones, Dancing in the Dark. I also love the Harry Potter books (big kid that I am, the escapism is fantastic). Discovered Jill Mansell recently who is a great easy chick-lit kind of read which I like to pick up now and again in between deeper kind of books. Also like biographies/auto-biographies - got a massive collection of Beatle books, and will read about anyone that's had an interesting life. Finished the book "Wicked" about the witches in the Wizard of Oz before and after a ruddy great house landed on one of them :) and went to see the musical in London - I was speechless, it amazed me beyond words, I can't praise it enough and the lead, Idina Menzel, is out of this world.

Heroes:

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and anyone that can tackle life head on and kick its backside no matter what's thrown at them. People that have faced adversity and not given up or faced the unknown with courage and strength.
