About Me

Power Lines (Live, Acoustic on 8-26-2007)
Allusions To A God is an album that sums up how I felt at one point in my life. The songs deal with everything from warfare to doubting what you once thought was the truth. Brandon Martinazzi co-produced the record and played a huge role in setting the overall rhythm for many songs that had previously been different tempos or the like. We began the recording process in May of 2006. Things went slowly due to the obligations of real life, but we trudged onward to finish things up seven months later.
Terminal, the first track on the record is a two part instrumental inspired by Pink Floyd and later progressive metal acts.
Swan Song was written in early 2005 and given an entirely different feeling when Brandon added his drums and the junk solo mid-way through the track. We distorted my vocals to try and get a effect not unlike Radiohead
Thoughts Assemble was another song shelled out early before the recording process had begun, but realized in a totally different form when Brandon came in with his drumming.
The title track Allusions To A God was inspired from a guitar standpoint by the minimalist, rhythmic guitar work of Mike Doughty with the band Soul Coughing and in his solo career. The synthesizers probably were inspired by Depeche Mode.
I am proud of Even The Camera Man is an Actor because it was written and recorded in one day. Numerous things inspired this track - everything from Boards of Canada to John Lennon’s "Revolution 9" on the Beatles’ white album.
Badge is a cover of a song by Cream that was written by Eric Claption and George Harrison. We tried to get ours a harder, more spacey feel than the original. It’s still a pop song at the core though.
The End of Insight was inspired by the spoken verse style many songs in the jazz rock sub genre are in. I think our favorite bit is during the solo when everything falls apart and then sort of reforms.
As Crows Fly Over is an instrumental track containing a riff written in early 2005. This track is probably the one most similar to its initial form when written.
Two Heads of the Hydra is the heaviest song I have ever written and suitably dark. We describe it as our version of Black Sabbath’s "War Pigs."
Love to all,
Steve
