About Me

About me:
I live & work in NYC. I have really only ever worked in the fashion industry... too many years to count now, LOL! I've sewed, & done technical & fashion design for many years, & i was really needing a change. Now i'm a database administrator in the fashion industry, with "New York & Company"~ something a little different.
I've been with my partner for over 6 years. Yes, we have our ups & downs... doesn't everyone? I love him, & he's a great guy though. Of course, to put up me, I think takes a special talent.
I recently bought my own apartment! I never dreamed i'd spend sooooooo much, to get so little! Well, my building does have indoor pool & spa, & I added a cozy whirlpool to my own little place! At least i'll have a place for us to call home... and i guess that's one of the things life is all about, finding your home!
I've been in nyc for over 10 years. I can't say i love it, cause i don't. I miss having a simplier life, in a small town. Oh well, be careful what you wish for in life, cause you just might get it!
These are some recent pictures of me on my journey thru life, or in this case, Pakistan!
No, Pakistan is NOTHING like the US media plays it out to be! They are not waiting at airports to kill americans, as the local news would suggest. Actually, the people of Pakistan are some of the nicest & kindest people I have ever met, & we are talking about complete strangers too! I posted a quickie blog about my visit~

My Interests

My interest are many, as anyone who has seen my apartment can confirm!!
I collect Blythe, and many other vintage dolls. Blythe is ONE of my favorites. I was actually lucky enough to help out the awesome product developer @ ADG, on a few of their Blythe dolls... I helped with the 3rd doll, Priceless Parfait, & the 4th doll, Golden Goddess~ those are the 2 dolls in some of the pictures! I LOVE the vintage kenner Blythes from 1972, & i have 9 of them. I also LOVE the modern Blythes by ADG... can you tell? I have about 120 of them. I also enjoy the Blythe dolls by CWC / Takara~ i have about 100 of those too! Then there's DAWN, my other favorite girl from the 1970's.... i have a well over a 100 of her too! Then there is Little Big Eyes from 2001... the modern Blythe clone... about 80 of them! The list goes on, and on! I think i have over 1000, but i have too many to count!
I also collect Singer sewing machines... weird i know! I love the machines from the 1960's & 1970's. The Singer Touch & Sews are my favorites. My grandfather was from Italy, & he and my grandmother taught me to sew at an early age.... i was around 6 at the time. 30 years later, i still love to sew... although nowdays i don't have much time to do it.
Of course, i'm always buying stuff off ebay! I think i would be rich if it weren't for ebay! I could afford a condo in manhattan if ebay didn't exist, LOL!

I'd like to meet:

Hmm, i guess i'm open to meet anyone. NOT looking for anything romantic, as i already have a partner.
I would LOVE to meet a real carpet munching lesbian like Muffler!!! Of course, there is Lisa, but the last carpet she cleaned was due to doggie do-do.

Music:

Most likely anything NOT on the radio in the usa!
Classic Standards like Donna Summer, Kylie still rule for me~ but i'm very into the Netherlands music scene:
Milk Inc
Sylver
Kate Ryan
Novaspace
I also am getting back into my more mature sounding music. So, i'm re-exploring some of the classic under rated artist:
Leann Rimes
Carly Simon
Melissa Manchester

Movies:

Current favorite is: http://anothergaymovie.com/
This is a MUST see! I love Muffler!
Of course, standards like:
Fire by Deepa Mehta
Earth by Deepa Mehta
Water by Deepa Mehta
Trick~ just cause it's fun!
The Guru~ Jimi Mistry is a cutie!
Touch of Pink~ same reason as above!

Television:

Still my favorites:
Queer as Folk
Will & Grace
Sex and the City
& who can forget the 80's....
The Fact's of Life!!!! (weren't we all just waiting for Blair & Joe to just do it??)

Books:

Of course, there is Gina Garan's, "This is Blythe". Hmmm, maybe i can blame her for the dolly madness in my life~ Be sure to check out Gina's very own doll called "Gina Girl"
I like vintage sewing books, auto-bio's, & old christmas catalogs!! (Going thru the old 1970's Sears wishbook can really take you back to a place of pure innocent happiness!)

Heroes:

Hmmm, i guess anyone who's achieved happiness thru the use of good pills, LOL!

My Blog
