We at the Human Dignity
Society believe that everyone has and deserves a basic level
of dignity from their fellow man or woman.
With this belief we also
believe that this dignity should be respected and people deserve the
basic components of survival such as shelter, food
and opportunity.
We seek to give
individuals the opportunity and tools to not only survive,
but hopefully also thrive in life.
We also seek to change the
perception of those less fortunate to the general public and introduce
that the recognition of basic human rights and basic human dignity
must be a key component of our local, national and international communities.
About Us:The Human Dignity Society is starting as a student organization at the University of Texas at Austin. The hope is to spread the organization to other campuses and eventually to spin it into a national non-profit organization.We are dedicated to ending the root causes of homelessness and poverty by providing oppurtunity through fresh means.Our first project is to produce a documentary of the stories of the homeless, hopefully in the setting of a meal provided to them. Armed with any support we can get from fellow organizations, businesses and the community we want to help a handful of these individuals get on their feet with shelter, jobs, education and anything else they might need. We hope to capture the process through film and show that these individuals deserve respect and dignity.We look foward to anyone help actively or passively. Donations of time, money or ideas are appreciated.
