Once upon a time there was a band called Seraphin, but they broke up. Then in march 2006 they decided to reform, only with a new bass player, and so a few rooms (no capitals) was born. I won’t bore you with the details about how we came up with the name, it was a long long process, believe me, I was there. The sharper ones among you may have noticed that I’ve switched from the third person to the first person just now. Why do bands always write about themselves in the third person anyway? I mean, it’s not like anybody’s going to believe we actually hired someone to write our biography. Although this might have been better written if we had.......
Right, where was I? Ah, yes, so in june 2006 we recorded five songs in a rehearsal studio and mixed them at home. These songs were intended for a three-track demo that we use to terrorize local venues into booking us but we really liked all five of them so we decided to stick them all on a CD as well and call it an EP, ‘Cheese Lovers At War’. The entire EP, including the artwork, should be available as a free download soon.
Now about the songs, some of you may have noticed that the vocals don’t always sound the same, that’s because we have two singers, Fouke Boss and Remco Vranken. They also write the songs, the rule being that whoever wrote the song gets to sing it as well, so ‘Road Trip’ and ’60 Star’ are written and sung by Fouke whereas ‘Mephisto’s Grand Theatre’ and ‘Shotgun Blues’ are by Remco. Just so you know.
Next year we hope to record our first ‘real’album but at the moment we are still very much looking for places to play. So if you own a stage or know anywhere we can play, please let us know, we’ll play anywhere, really. Any important news will be posted on our blog and if we ever get round to conquering the known universe we’ll probably have to rewrite this bio too. But I guess by then we’ll be able to pay someone to do it for us, someone professional who ends biographies with sentences like “And the best is yet to come…â€
which is something we would never do, of course
