About Me

Encore, although it wasn't named that until 1996, was originally founded in Garland, Texas on May 14 of 1984. After losing our first lease to an expanding Bloodsucking Video, Encore added CDs and T-Shirts upon re-opening in Austin, Texas. Today we pride ourselves in our large selection of Metal and Hardcore music. We have so much metal and we felt it was only fair to the discriminating metal head who might discover our wares to separate it into its own space. So when we moved into our new and spacious location last year we segregated our metal into one long section and call it the WALL OF METAL. Now don't the rest of you folks who desire a bit more sedate form of music be put off by this act because we also embrace other genres as well. In fact we have as much local music as we can get our hands on. We have Rock and Hip-Hop just to name two of our numerous sections. We originally started in 1984 as a video rental store. We were the first store in Austin to carry DVD for rent or for sale and because of this we have many exclusive and rare titles. We also offer T-Shirts & Stickers. We stock tons of Metal T-Shirts from Cannibal Corpse to Bathory to Pantera to Slayer. We have Willie Nelson and Hustler T-Shirts too, just to name a few. Encore is not a member of any Coalition or Association that might have an influence upon what we present to you. We are totally independent.
