• MILITIA HISTORY •
Militia was formed in January 1984 by drummer Phil Achee & bassist Robert Willingham. Later, guitarists Tony Smith and Jesse Villegas joined and began writing songs that featured a unique combination of speed, power and melodic/technical elements that would later prove to be a staple of Texas Metal. After completing the tunes for about 5 songs, Militia was still looking for a vocalist. Jason McMaster (Watch Tower) suggested to the band to offer Mike Soliz a shot. None of the band members knew if Mike could even sing - he was known as a pretty good drummer. But about 30 seconds into his audition, it was clear Mike was the man for the job and the first Militia line-up was complete.
On July 3, 1984, Militia performed live for the first time, opening for Wyzard and Watch Tower at the Ritz Theater in Austin Texas. A few months later, Militia embarked on a Texas "mini-tour", opening for Nasty Savage. Militia would also have the honor of playing alongside Metal giants Megadeth, Exciter, Slayer, Metal Church and King Diamond, as well as Texas Metal legends Watch Tower, Karion, SA Slayer, Juggernaut, Rotting Corpse and Syrus.
In 1985 Militia recorded and released their first demo, "Regiments of Death". Later that year, "The Sybling", a 3-song, 12" vinyl EP, was released. Motivated by a tight budget and the hopes of being signed to a label, the band decided to only produce 100 copies. Unfortunately, Militia was never signed and no more copies were produced, as the band dissolved in 1986.
Nobody anticipated that 15 years later, original copies of "The Sybling" would become one of the most sought-after metal records, selling in Europe for over $1000. A 2003 Ebay auction featured an original selling for $1136. In November of 2007, another original copy fetched a $3000 winning bid. The EP was bootlegged in Germany and these copies have been seen on Ebay going for more than $100.
Shortly after this historic auction, this MySpace page was created to provide a way to connect with friends and fans throughout the world. An invitation to perform at the Keep It True festival was the final catalyst that brought MILITIA out of a 20+ year slumber and back into the metal world. In 2008, the all-original MILITIA line-up hit the stage for the first time since 1985. Look for MILITIA to stay active in 2009. After returning from Europe, the band will continue working on new songs, with plans of recording a full-length CD. MyGen Profile Generator

-Bonus Tracks-
9. Thrash To Destroy
--This is one of the earliest MILITIA songs, yet it had never been previously released. We began this recording in 1984, only completing the bass, drums and Jesse's rhythm guitar. We ran out of money and never finished it. That is until the Summer of 2008, when Tony added his rhythm guitar, Jesse added the solo, and Mike added vocals. It took 24 years, but "Thrash To Destroy" is finally being released!

10. Onslaught
--When we reunited as a band in January 2008, Tony discovered an old cassette that contained the oldest know recordings of MILITIA, during our earliest rehearsals with Mike Soliz, who had just recently joined the band. "Onslaught" was the first MILITIA song ever written, yet we never managed to record this one in the studio. It is being released for the very first time.

11. Objective: Termination (Live)
12. Regiments Of Death (Live)
--These are a couple of very raw tracks recorded at the Ritz Theater in early 1986. We're pretty sure this was Phil Patterson's first show as MILITIA guitarist. Even though the sound quality is really bad, the energy of the infamous Ritz Theater is captured. These are the first live recordings to be released by MILITIA.
