Band Concept
Akihiro Kubota LapTop Jazz Quartet (akLTJQ) started out as a Tokyo-based audio-visual "onkyo" jazz ensemble in 2002. The members of the band are Akihiro Kubota, Atsushi Yamaji, Atsushi Tadokoro and Keiichi Nakano. The fundamental concept of the ensemble is real-time "Algorithmic Improvization" based on the jazz spirits of the post-digital era. The challenge of akLTJQ is the higher levels of integration between dynamical algorithmic structures and groovy human improvisations. The execution of accumulated coded procedures by daily programmings of computers are equivalent to the acquired human skills by harsh practices of musical instruments. Joe Zawinul(Weather Report) said "We always solo and we never solo". Now akLTJQ says "We always algorithmic and we never algorithmic!".
