The Spyral is an Italian Electropunk Indie Rock Band, ideally affiliated to the Kasabian Movement and the New Wave of British Indie Rock.
Founded in Naples, Italy, in June of 2005 under the name of "Speckled" by composer and keyboardist Ciro "Nucleartitan" Di Dato, kicked out of his former band for his "rough" style, it managed to debut about twenty days after foundation.
Originally nothing more than one of the many cover bands in the sterile neapolitan scene, throughout a year of formation changes, hard work and intense gigging it developed a unique style, universally appreciated by the local musical underground which recognized "Speckled", then "Spiral" and finally "The Spyral" as something different, never heard before in Naples, nor Italy.
Dreaming of running away from Naples, Ciro wrote the lyrics for a piano riff he composed as a kid, and "Universal Point", the first Spyral song was born.
Realizing some potential, he started to turn all his ideas into real songs, with the help of his trusted Korg Triton LE, and soon squared the circle by putting on the definitive formation for his band.
With the help of the only Speckled founding member left, accomplished bassist Enrico "Doc" Buono, also known as Harry B. Goode, the Eminence of Blues, or the Slut for his vice of playing with no less than 5 bands, The Spyral managed to complete its formation with Barrett powered and Vaughan propelled guitarist Davide "Dave Diamond" Liccione, young and beautiful lead vocalist Roberta "Robby Ru" Russo, and, after a year-long courting, drummer extraordinaire Andrea "Andy the Beast" De Fazio.
Again, Ciro and Enrico realized some real potential, as this formation was really the squaring of the circle, thanks to the mutual compenetration of such different styles, tastes and musical personalities.
After another summer spent gigging, the first Spyral song composed by all members of the definitive formation was born in a rainy July night from a simple bass riff : called Mind the Gap, as it heavily recalled a forbidden love under London rain. Later on, inspired by a real story, Enrico contributed the lyrics to the new song.
At the end of the summer, The Spyral were ready to record, and that's what they've done by now, working hard as always to bring out "something different" and a good vibe with dedication and humility.
Recorded in the Orange Bug Studio, The Spyral self-produced debut 4 tracks EP "Mind the Gap" has been released on September 25 2006.
The Spyral is looking for a Record Label to officially produce the EP.
We don't care anyway, so ... Check it out.
