I am here for Friends

About Me

I've worked as a corporate communications manager and a product development manager, written lots of copy for annual reports, product case studies and press releases, but the most rewarding job I've ever had--hands down-- is "Mom". :) I take a little time on here and elsewhere to give back in some small way by sharing information about things we can all do to improve our world.

My Interests

Loud music (damned iPod, I'm going deaf), dancing, volunteering at my kids' schools, child welfare advocacy, writing, photography, cooking, organic gardening, travel, philanthropy, bargain shopping (I'm not poor, just thrifty!), addicted to Bookworm (it's like Scrabble..yeah, I'm a nerd), going to concerts and sharing a good conversation with my hubby, martinis in the pool with friends, running, reading, swimming and playing dodgeball with my kids.

..

I'd like to meet:

The funny people...Steve Carell, Robyn Williams, Ben Stiller, Dennis Leary, Bill Murray, Steven Wright, John Cleese, Ellen Degeneres, Cameron Diaz, Chelsea Handler. RIP: John Belushi, Peter Sellers, Gilda Radner. I'd like to meet fans of good music and film, and some of my favorite ballet dancers, including Alessandra Ferri and Sofiane Sylve. There are too many activists, artists, and writers who inspire positive change...I can't meet them all, so I'll just add my voice to the chorus. Need an environmental wake-up call? Heroes:

Good parents and those who protect the innocent.GANDHI'S VISION - today more relevant than ever...56 years after his assassination Mahatma Gandhi proves, that in the bigger picture the principles of nonviolence represent the only solution in the process of resolving any conflict.Since September 11 and events since, this issue has revealed new and frightening dimensions. We and our children will have to pay a high price for the sum of all violence, whatever the purpose and the motives might have been. Let us unite with people and organizations, committed to non-violent conflict management. Let us create a stronger and more active base of awareness, which will help prevent future tragedies of such magnitude. Let us hinder criminals by denying them any credibility via press coverage. This can only be achieved through an active political engagement by all of us, no matter if the fruit of our efforts may sometimes only be enjoyed by future generations."We all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal." -John F. Kennedy, one month before the U.S. and the Soviet Union agreed on the Limited Test Ban Treaty..the first significant restraint put on the superpowers' doomsday arms race."Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming other living beings, we are still savages." - Thomas A. Edison, 1847-1931
