About Me

Lorin Morgan-Richards is an author of dark literature and music. That is, the lights are often out when he writes. Richards has incorporated visually into his live performances; modern dance, elaborate stage sets, film, and theatrical drama. In the past, Richards has opened for The Creatures, Front 242, Pyschotica, and Lycia. College radio stations turned 'ENKI' , the debut solo album by Richards, into regular rotation in winter of 2000. 'ENKI' is based on the book 'The Twelfth Planet' by author-historian Zecharia Sitchin. Sitchin's work describes the possible genetic manipulation of life by gods as written in ancient Sumerian texts.

"Musically, 'ENKI' mixes old school goth with modern day electronica. Most strikingly, he merges a Dead Can Dance-like Eastern edge into his songs...this Eastern flavor sets 'ENKI' apart from the synth playing masses..." Nov.17-23, 1999, Cleveland Free Times Magazine on 'ENKI'.

On April 8th, 2000, at the Cleveland Public Theater, Lorin Morgan-Richards took ENKI on stage to a sold out audience. This performance was choreographed by New York City trained Michael Medcalf as it marked perhaps the first ever mixed-media ensemble of its kind. Michael Medcalf founded the Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre group.

One year later, and relocated to New York City. Richards next project An Occurrence Remembered encompassed the suspenseful horror within Ambrose Bierce's 'An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' and 'Chickamauga'. Music for the album was syncopated in time to Robert Enrico's films of the same name (see video below). To bring these stories to life, Richards turned to choreographer Nicole Cavaliere and co-producer Valerie Stoneking for the New York Premiere of 'An Occurrence Remembered', a modern dance performance. Invisible Records released two of the songs from this production 'Hanging by a Thread' and 'the escape' on their release 'Notes from thee Real underground', 2002.

In 2002, Richards teamed up with Jim Beck, a Brooklyn musician and tech, to create the live soundtrack for We See but Dimly, a modern dance performance by Angela Huddleston.

May of that year, Richards released a cover of Alice Coopers Im Eighteen for a special compilation of the artist, entitled Mutations: A Tribute to Alice Cooper.

September of 2002-2005, after moving to Los Angeles with co-producer Valerie Stoneking, Richards began writing diligently to create new concepts and stories, while finishing his BA in cultural anthropology.
Winter of 2007, Richards rereleases 'An Occurrence Remembered', available in print as a full album for the first time, and begins working on a new concept album. Richards books are in production and set for a release in 2008.
Jan 2008 'We See But Dimly released on I-Tunes. Recorded live in NYC with musician Jim Beck based on Angela Huddleston's "We See But Dimly'
Richards is actively involved in giving back to the Los Angeles Native American community, spending his free time volunteering at Haramokngna American Indian Center in the Angeles Forest and organizing his collaborative film series Bringing the Circle Together: A Native American Film Series.
