About Me

Concert and film composer Russell Steinberg received a Ph.D. in Music from Harvard University, an M.M. from the New England Conservatory, and a B.A. from UCLA. Steinberg's music is frequently performed in the United States and abroad. Commissions include the world music ensemble MANY AXES, LA Philharmonic violinist Mitchell Newman, the Jewish Center for Culture and Creativity, and the Daniel Pearl Foundation. Upcoming film scores for fall 2006 are SOMETHING TRUE directed by Thor Gold and SWEET LOVE AND DEADLY directed by Paul Clinco. He conducts the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra and regularly lectures at UCLA and Disney Hall. Recordings include STORIES FROM MY FAVORITE PLANET, produced by the Daniel Pearl Foundation (available at www.danielpearl.org) and DESERT STARS, a recording of Steinberg's music for piano and classical guitar.
