About Me

Shakir, or Dr.X as he is soulfully referred to on his new c.d. single "Paradigm" is somewhat of an enigma!!! A competent musician,trained classically on clarinet by his Dad beginning at age 3,later began training at age 7 with an African American classical clarinetist( Dr. William Clifford King). The training went on 15 years. Also being taught saxophone by the late great Sonny Stitt. A self taught keyboardist,composer, and a trained saxophonist, the good Dr. went on to college attending Malcolm X, Chicago Conservatory of Music, Columbia University, Northeastern Illinois University,and at the same time performing his job responsibilities to Stax records,Chi-Sound records, where he was M.D. for the late Walter Jackson, and Gene Chandler, Shakir was also called upon to be M.D. for Sherry Scott, of the earlier E.W.F., Shakir's studio musician work began with Stax, moved on to Brunswick records, Curtom records, Universal Studios, P.S. Studios, Richard Evans & Leo Grahms Ovation records!!The Dr. was also M.D. for several theater co.'s consistently working at the Mill Run, and the theater's through out the Chicago down town area. Presently the Dr. resides in Japan with his family and his company U.P.(Umoja Productions Inc. Unity Productions Japan Unl.), as President/C.E.O.!!!
