Skeggøx has traveled a long road to get to where it is today, and has much further to go before the journey ends. It began in 1999 when Skalk picked up his guitar again after many years of neglect. The why never crossed his mind; it was just something that needed to be done again.
Fast forward to 2002. Skalk began writing songs with a distinct Viking connection. The original goal was Black Metal, but each composition took a warm and melodic turn. This became the way of things to come.
In 2003 Skalk met the mighty Hommel. And while nothing musical came of their meeting, a shared interest in music was apparent.
More time passed and Skalk kept writing and refining his work. He had dropped any pretense of writing Black Metal by this point. This was to be a pure Viking Metal project. In 2005 Skalk recorded his first material. It was a shoddy recording, but it was more than enough to capture the interest of Hommel. The one man project became a collaboration.
2006 was an incredible year. The project was named Skeggøx, genuine recording efforts were undertaken, Hommel came onboard as a bassist and primary engineer, Jen joined for flute, keys, and female vocals, and Rich brought his guitar and experience to the mix. The feedback from those who have heard the scratch tracks has been highly positive.
2007 was a very difficult year. Details are unnecessary. What matters is that Skeggøx is hard at work again and by spring 2008 we will be ready to show the world what we have been working on for so long.Thank you for your ongoing support! Hails to all who read this!
