Sound Tank was set up to provide a focus for quality, original music where bands get to play their own material and get paid fairly. It has been steadily building support and has hosted some great songwriters and bands including Lou Rhodes, Nemo Jones (Faithless), The Hat, The Big Hairy Band, Mab, Mountain Fireworks Company, Martin Harley, Alison David, the debut gig from Jon Thorne's Oedipus Complex, a warm up for their appearance at the London Jazz Festival 2005, and recently a special night from Kingston collective WupaDupa whose string ensemble performed with songwriters from both collectives. Musicians lend their skills to each other's projects, creating a network from which recording and live collaborations grow.
The first Sound Tank CD featuring nine collective members, produced with the support of Grassroots Arts Commission Brighton & Hove, is available now at our live nights and on request from Sound Tank artists.
