Already as a small child I was singing all the time and in every situation, so my mother put me into a children's choir. I went on singing and playing the piano, and at the age of 14 I started to take classical singing lessons.
When I grew up, my interests shifted from classical to folk and jazz music. I was then asked to sing in a bigband and various smaller bands, so I took jazz singing lessons and became an Ella Fitzgerlad-fan.
In 2007 I finished studying vocals at the light music department of the Arnhem conservatory in the Netherlands, where some great teachers, mostly Hartog Eysman, helped me to find my own musical identity and style.
I very much like pop and jazz music, or best: some kind of mixture. I love quiet music, in a small ensemble or duo, but it hasn't to be all melancholy...
I don't like it when music is overproduced, with too much effects and triple voiceover, I rather want to hear the natural, clear sound of the singer. I feel I can read their minds then. (Of course I know it isn't so... I hope!)
As a result, I try to sound like that myself; honest, genuine, from the heart, but not sentimental.
Despite all my love towards acoustic music, my newest project is all about overdubbing, sampling and producing, and working with our own music here - so visit my friend Bug Spencer for new songs!
And of course I am still performing with Mellow Yellow, Sascha Blejwas and others as well - check my calendar!
I hope you all enjoy listening to me and my music and come to my concerts!
