In the early nineties the two music maniacs discovered their fondness for electronic music, and started to get creatively involved: Volker Wagner became keyboarder for the band “Verschaoten†in Hamburg, which was well-known in the rapper scene of the time. After quitting, he produced more and more electronic music together with other bands.
André Lehmann began DJing with Drum’n’Bass, House and Techno, and did gigs with big names such as Ellen Allien or Azzido Da Bass. During these gigs he continued to try out his own productions and developped them further.
After many experiments and projects, Wagner and Lehmann met and brought AUDIOPUNKZ to life, a project that mirrors their musical developments and has turned into a live act that captivates its audience. It is understood that giving unmistakable marching orders is part of the spectacle. But the AUDIOPUNKZ also like to run the turntables as a DJ team, allowing nobody to take a rest on the dancefloor.
The release of “Kleine Sandplatzmusik†on Major Digital (digital) and Pearldiver Rec. (vinyl) became their first success, already popping up in some DJ charts.
Beside their first releases on Major Digital, Musik Gewinnt Freunde and Pearldiver Rec., the AUDIOPUNKZ have also launched their own, freshly-squeezed label Coexistence Recordings. On this, they will release a lot of new, interesting material together with other acts and friends.
