About Me

Myspace Layouts by Pimp-My-Profile.com / Clean & Simple

I am the most eccentric person I know. I was breed in D.C. and am a die hard Redskins fan. Although I refuse to reside here for the remainder of my many years left on this earth. Like many of those from the D.C. area I am democratic, witty, completely down to earth, attractive(It's a fact, though this is a small city, beauty is not a rarity here) and since it is known as "Chocolate City" just know that I am one insane black chick. I am out-going, sensitive, helpful, intelligent, strange, non-religious, unbiased(to or about anything) honest, forth-right, stubborn, easy-going and caring. I am enlisted in the Army National Guard and look forward to the rest of my life being committed to "Uncle Sam". No really I do. One of the more important aspects of me are my piercings. I have five piercings in total: eyebrow, monroe, nose, top-ear and navel. I just recently got my first tattoo and had my navel pierced due to my enlistment in the military( one cannot have any visible piercings while in uniform), therefore I rushed out to get a piercing that only I would know existed. My reason for doing this was so that as I am being indoctrinated, I could locate my secret piercing and remind myself of who I really Am (that is if they allow me to keep it in, doubtful really). It has always brought me bitter-delight that those who question the motives or personalities of those who are pierced are the first to admit their admiration or strange fascination with the body-modification phenomenon. But don't think that I have piercings as a tool to be anti-social. Just the opposite, I find myself deeply interested in understanding the character and behaviors of those I meet. I enjoy watching people reveal themselves, sometimes in unintended ways(for instance, in how people react to my piercings, hairdos and/or clothing to construct their image of me). I have a completely domestic side and, at the same time, I have just as strong a wild streak. How they coexist, I couldn't begin to tell you. In a lot of ways I am the intersection of opposites and I appreciate that complexity in others. I have a great sense of humor but I cannot remember jokes. I am a huge procrastinator but I detest waiting on others. I will soon delve into the essence of your being but still allow you to mislead me. So people often are attracted to me because I can understand them and still let them be who they are. It's important to people that they not be judged but there still be an element of truth there for some level of connectedness. As I said earlier, I am an Aquarian. BTW, I'm a big f*#^ing Klutz.

My Interests

I enjoy writing poetry/prose, reading, cooking/creating recipes, a good debate over drinks, wine tasting, vintage/trendy fashions, tedious projects, letting loose and hanging out with my pals, visiting museums, eating Japanese/Chinese/Korean/Italian/African/Southern/Jewish/ Other cuisines, bar hopping, listening to live music, viewing nature in all its glory, procrastinating/lounging around, smoking (you guess what), tennis and football (on t.v.), drag shows (not racing), following stories of criminal behavior and true tales of the weird, exploring eccentric spiritual paths, getting piercings, sex and the city, smoking(you guessed it) and then plain ol' fashioned interesting conversation. And of course, laughter.

I'd like to meet:

Well gosh, that's a little difficult. So many people so little time. But beware I have an obsession when it comes to lists. I just can't help leaving out anyone I think deserves to be here. I'd like to have met a few people,eg.; Buddha, Bette Davis, Gandhi, Jesus Christ(pre-crucifiction), Audrey Hepburn, definitely Katherine Hepburn, Richard Pryor, Socrates,June Jordan, Gwendolynn Brooks, Audre Lourde, Malcolm X, Freddie Mercury but they're dead now so I'll move on to the living. Bette Midler, Tori Amos, Angela Davis, Niki Giovanni, Oprah (who doesn't), Paris Hilton (she's hot), Terrence Howard, Woody Allen, Anthony Bourdain, Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro, Matt Groening (and the rest of the "Simpsons" writers), Bill Clinton and Christopher Walken. I wouldn't want to have met the following: Hitler, Hitler's mother, Idi Amin, Mother Teresa, Stalin, Joan Crawford and John Wayne Gacy. But these people now reside in hell so I don't have to. And among the soon to be Satan greeters: George Bush, Gary Coleman, Don King, Rosie O' Donnell, Martha Stewart, Dick Cheney, Al Sharpton, Ray Romano, Clarence Thomas, Bobby Flay and Christopher Walken.

Books:

There were times when I was growing up that those who disagreed with what I was reading confiscated or even burned my books. Sounds a little Spanish Inquisition like to you,well it was. You try growing up in your typical Uber Christian household. They thought one book was sacred(quess which one), but I thought they all were. I still do today. Here are some that have touched me: Lying Awake by Mark Salzman; Africana by Appiah, Gates, et al.; the Thesaurus; the Dictionary (Oxford English, Third Edition); everything written by Edgar Allen Poe; Loose Woman by Sandra Cisneros; Killing Rage and Bone Black by bell hooks; kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain; Savage Inequalities by Jonathan Kozol; The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemmingway; The End Of Alice by A.M. Holmes; Becoming Madame Mao and Red Azalea by Anchee Min; Go The Way Your Blood Beats edited by Shawn Stewart Ruff;

Heroes:

Liquor it's gotten me through some rough times, it's given me the motivation and courage to conquer my fears and it's helped me face my shortcomings. My best-friend for helping me believe in myself.
