Vermin

sounds of civilization collapsing

About Me

Vermin is an elektro-industrial band based in western Massachusetts. Our sound is inspired by a variety of influences ranging from EBM and techno to noise, punk, and metal. A typical Vermin song incorporates floor-crushing bass beats, broken and distorted electronic drum rhythms, layered synthesizers, and harsh vocals screamed, growled, and chanted amid a backdrop of sonic aggression. Vermin's music and lyrics explore political themes that are both urgent and timeless, dealing with social and ecological collapse, totalitarian governments, warfare, genocide, and human alienation. At live shows we play with a ferocity and presence all too often lacking in electronic music, augmenting programmed parts with live keyboards and guitar.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Jesse Erik Cross: synthesizers, drum patterns, noises, effects, vocals, live computer manipulation.
Tachykardie : live synthesizer.
Tony Tavares : guitar.
Tristan Baur : live synth and computer manipulation.
Influences: Our music is primarily influenced by the harder edged industrial of the last 15 or so years, but we also draw some cues from punk, noise, metal, 20th century advant-garde, atonal and serial music. We also find a lot of inspiration coming from sounds we hear in the day to day operation of mechanized civilization, from horror movies (as well as other genres), and radical politics.
Sounds Like: We would happily be compared to bands including Skinny Puppy, Throbbing Gristle, Einsturzende Neubatauten, :Wumpscut:, Psyclon Nine, Taktical Sect, Hocico, Caustic, Terrorfakt, Crass, early Nine Inch Nails, and plenty of others. Maybe you don't think we sound like any of those, and that would be fine too.
Type of Label: None
