Iraida began singing at the age of seventeen next to her father, singer and
pianist Freddy Noriega. In the year 1990 she traveled to New York city where
she studied music for three years with teachers like Sheila Jordan, Bob
Norton and Mimi Daitz. In 1993 she returned to Mexico City and she has been
very active in the Mexican music scene, particularly the jazz scene. In the
year 2000 she participated in the awarded theatrical piece "Circus Erotica"
of writer and director Israel Cort..s. Iraida has performed in important
Mexican halls, such as National Arts Center, Sala Nezahualcoyotl, Bellas
Artes and Metropolitan Theatre.Iraida's discography includes the following CD's: "Elementos" with guitarist
Emiliano Marentes; "Reencuentros" with double-bassist Roberto Aymes;
"Cuicanitl, solo voces" with the vocal ensemble Cuicanitl, from which she
is a founding member; she appears in the compilations of Mexican Divas,
volumes two and three; and her first solo CD titled "Efecto Mariposa",
"viaje de mar" and with singer magos herrera "soliluna" and recently "Asi era entonces...ahora" with the zinco big band.
