Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, Dawan owes his strength and belief in him self to his environment and his family. In a time where music was pure, true, and unique, Nova grew accustomed to appreciating music as a whole for it's energy, expressions, and messages.
Introduced to Prince at an early age, Nova was taught to be Nova. Never to fear thinking or living outside of the box. Coming from a musical family, Nova's uncles and brother all played the drums. Till this day he still has vivid images and sounds of his Uncle Gary and his band practicing late nights in the basement. Times such as these strengthened his musical ear for notes, arrangement, and rhythms.
Dawan gives a great deal of credit for his success to his mother Juanita. Being raised herself to be self-sufficient, Juanita instilled in Nova and his brother values and morals that are the epitome of what a man and decent human being should be. In high school Nova added to his musical gifts by joining chamber choir. This experience gave him a broader out look on music, harmonies, and the beauty of movement within a song.
Through travel and being surrounded by wise people, Nova has a horizon as broad as the eye can see, and a mind as open as "I Have A Dream". Dawan "Supa Nova" Watkins strives to breath a breath of fresh air, which is so desperately needed into the current state of music. In an industry full of professional actors, Nova hopes to be one of few artists that set an example that it's ok to be you.
